Biden's Son To Be Sent To Iraq
by Jeff Dinelli
As mainsailset has noted, Senator Joe Biden's son, Capt. Beau Biden of the Delaware National Guard and the state's attorney general, will be sent to Iraq sometime in 2008.
Senator Biden, speaking on Radio Iowa, repeated his displeasure with Hillary and Obama's voting against funding bills for the mission in Iraq with the purpose of pressuring Bush to begin withdrawing troops.
"There's no political point worth my son's life," Biden said, according to Radio Iowa. "There's no political point worth anybody's life out there. None."
While McCain and Duncan Hunter have had sons deployed, Beau Biden is obviously the first child of the anti-war Democratic candidates to receive his orders. It goes without saying that Sen. Biden's assuredly conflicted comments will be noteworthy in the days to come. I would echo Adrianna Huffington's comment on Olbermann's show tonight that hopefully we will have begun withdrawing troops from this misbegotten adventure by the time Beau Biden's Brigage is called upon. Not just for his sake, but for the sake of the thousands of men and women who find themselves in harm's way for specious reasons.
