Hillary Says Dump Maliki
by Jeff Dinelli
Just hours after Bush renewed support for Nuri al-Maliki Hillary has called for the Iraqi Prime Minister's replacement. Saying "Iraqi leaders have not met their own political benchmarks to share power, modify the de-Baathification laws, pass an oil law, schedule provincial elections, and amend their constitution," Clinton shares "Senator Levin's hope that the Iraqi parliament will replace Prime Minister Maliki with a less divisive and more unifying figure when it returns in a few weeks." Hillary has been to Iraq many times, the latest being in January, and may suspect that Maliki's government is in Bush's back pocket, looking to simply prolong this violent situation in order to collect some semblance of the riches that Halliburton and its ilk are reaping. I know this was a point of conversation on this site recently with Steve's post after Levin's return, but perhaps we can re-open the conversation and consider what the harm would be in blowing this whole thing up and hopefully find some pols over there who have the citizens' best interest at heart. If we agree there is no military solution, maybe there is a political one by changing leadership. In my opinion, it's worth a shot.
