Data Mining Is Surgical?

I totally agree with Lambert over at CorrenteWire: either Mike McConnell is a clueless moron (which he isn't), or he is lying when he says that the NSA's vast data mining program of Americans' emails and other communications is a surgical operation. That assertion by itself merits a congressional hearing, but then McConnell would simply say that asking such questions amounts to treason.

If Silvestre Reyes and Jay Rockefeller knew anything at all about accountability and oversight, they would drag McConnell before a closed-session joint hearing and make him explain how the NSA's data mining program is "surgical." But then, neither of them know their asses from a hole in the ground, so never mind.
