Iraq: A glimpse into the obvious

by soccerdad

Dr Greenspan finally says what many of us have known for a very long time.

“I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil,” he says.

The fact that it is yet to be pumped is irrelevant. The point is that its still in the ground and not being pumped to, say, China. As long as its still there for the taking. Some morons have said "if it was really about oil we would have invaded Saudi Arabia". Why, they are selling it to us, Iraq was going to sell it to China.

So as we have seen the surge will continue for the foreseeable future. The Dems hiding behind the troops will plead impotence at changing the course of the war. But as the campaigns of Hillary and Obama prove, the Dems are really for the war the Congress having already given Bush a green light to attack Iran. We see Hillary with Albright as one of her main advisor's. You remember her. To her the death of 500k children in Iraq because of sanctions was a price that was worth it link Obama has Dr Z and Ross so we know the pro-Israel policy will continue.

In other words no major candidate is talking about changing American imperialistic policy in the ME. But we all know that you can't be a major candidate without backing the policy of the elites.

The latest estimates that the number of Iraqis killed in this war may be as high as 1.2 million see here and here. We also see that a result of the US destroying water supplies, sewage systems is the rise of Cholera 16000 in Northern Iraq alone. But not to worry the US has also bombed many hospitals claiming they were harboring terrorists. So the destruction of Iraq continues. The Iraq war is a success for Bush, Cheney and the oil interests. Those that continue to say that the execution of the war is incompetent are simply trying to justify the war and saying in essence "we could have conquered Iraq more efficiently". But the real intent ofthis approach is to diffuse anti-war sentiment. Those that continue to repeat discredited memes such as spreading democracy are being patently dishonest or are incurably stupid.

But no one cares. People only care about whether their party can get elected not if it will make any difference. And so it will continue. There will be regime change in Iran. The Iranians have a short time to get it done themselves. The US has order the British to the border with Iran. It is only a matter of time before the appropriate "Tonkin Gulf Incident" takes place and war with Iran will be on. The only question that remains is whether our ruling cabal feels it necessary to have a domestic terror incident. Anybody who doesn't think these guys capable of running a "black flag" operation in the US has not been paying attention. see this for some historical perspective.

So the genocide of Iraqis continues, the genocide of Iranians is on deck. But genocide is something America has always been good at. So the Dems and their supporters can whine and do their kabuki theater trying to make us believe they are against the war, but they are not. They only worry about seizing power for themselves. But the final bottom line truth is that the political system is rigged by the moneyed interests so by the time the actual election comes about that we have in reality no substantive choice. But as every one knows people will continue to vote for the delusion of "lesser evilism". Others will use the excuse I didn't vote for them. Whatever that gets you through the day and helps you with self-absolution. But in the end unless you work for cessation of this war you are as guilty as Bush and Cheney.
