Edwards Education Plan
by John Patric
John Edwards' proposal to, among other things, create a "West Point" for teachers is getting a big "ho-hum" from the blogosphere and other spheres, but I like the idea. It's a typically Edwardsian idea in that you hear it and you think about it and you say, "Gee, how come nobody thought about that before?"
Most of the media attention centered on his proposal to basically recover from the Bush "No Child Left Behind" boondoggle. Edwards has been hearing about it over the summer in Iowa. The heart of his new proposal can be heard in the answer to a question about it from a teacher.
All of the Edwards kids attend or attended public schools -- putting him in touch on a regular basis with actual public school teachers, a rare quality in a Presidential candidate.
