Newt Says Nope to Presidential Bid
Evidently giving up his position as head of his tax exempt political organization was asking too much of Newt Gingrich.
"Newt is not running," spokesman Rick Tyler said. "It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president."
Gingrich decided "to continue on raising the challenges America faces and finding solutions to those challenges" as the group's chairman, Tyler said, "rather than pursuing the presidency."
One has to believe he realized he would never be elected President. As long as he could both run and stay with American Solutions, he was ready to test the waters, but as soon as it cost something to go for the golden ring, he just dropped it.
Of course, Newt knows that the Republican Party is facing a real crisis and the current candidates are making it worse. It's a sad state of affairs for the Republican Party when Newt Gingrich is one of the sensible faces of the Party.
