House Fails In SCHIP Veto Override Attempt
by Jeff Dinelli
The House just came up 17 votes short attempting to be able to potentially override a Bush veto of SCHIP. Ten million children without health care, whom Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) called "the most vulnerable people in our society," are essentially screwed.
As he claimed yesterday, the president is indeed still "relevant," in the worst possible definition of that word, and it's back to the drawing board.
