FEMA Does Propaganda
FEMA may have learned the right, and now the wrong lessons from Katrina when it came to their response in the SoCal fires this week. FEMA staged a press conference for the media, but gave reporters only 15 minutes' notice of the event, and then gave them an 800 number that was "listen only" that didn't allow the press to actually question FEMA.
No worry; FEMA simply replaced the real reporters who weren't given enough lead time to show up with their own staff onsite, who were free to lob softball questions to their leadership. Real reporters could only watch from the sidelines as FEMA staged a PR video as a press conference, which was dutifully carried by Fox News as if it were a real press conference.
Goebbels would be proud.
