GAO: Yes To A Bipartisan Commission

by Steve

Although it may give Barack Obama heartburn to see it, the widely respected Comptroller General David Walker of the Government Accountability Office endorses the idea of establishing a bipartisan commission to draft recommendations on how to address the fiscal train wreck that Bush will leave behind. You may recall that Obama thinks it is politically courageous to spew GOP rhetoric that Social Security is in crisis now, while he denigrates as triangulation what both Hillary and Walker endorse: a bipartisan commission tasked with recommending shared sacrifices to deal with Social Security, Medicare, deficits, tax inequities, and yes, universal health care.
