A Big Sigh of Relief
I realize that the Divided Dems are supposed to hate one another, but I love this little story...
During yesterday's Senate vote on the economic stimulus package, Senators Clinton and Kennedy were on the Senate floor, chatting with some colleagues, including Senator Feinstein. Senator Obama passed by a couple times, apparently intending to join the group, but possibly feeling a bit awkward. Finally, Senator Kennedy brought him into the group.
As reported by the Wall Street Journal:
Clinton laughed, as the group joked about Kennedy’s endorsement of Obama, and Clinton’s subsequent win of his home state, Massachusetts, on Super Tuesday. Clinton remarked to Obama about “a big sigh of relief when he endorsed you.”
“You know, a little ribbing,” Feinstein said when asked about the exchange. “It was all good-hearted though.”
The two candidates appear to be handling the campaign tensions with a measure of grace from which we could all learn a thing or two.
