Pelosi Fighting The Good Fight

by Jeff Dinelli

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has decided to risk allowing the Protect America Act, which would permanently expand the government's surveilance powers while shielding telecoms that have helped the government's eavesdropping efforts from lawsuits, to expire tomorrow rather than passing a bill to meet the deadline. Naturally, Republicans are accusing Pelosi of playing politics with national security.

"The president tells the American people he has nothing to offer but fear. We understand the value of collecting terrorism information...and when we come to terms over the bill, it will be a vast improvement over the Protect America Act and the bill passed by the Senate."

She could have termed it the gutless Senate, but I'm not going to quibble. Rage On, Sister.
