Open Thread - Appeasement Edition

Sorry for the late Open Thread. Here's one item for discussion: a week after Bush, and then McCain labeled Democrats as appeasers for being willing to talk with states who support terrorists, Israel becomes a nation of appeasers. In fact, as the Post noted this morning, after eight years of Bush/GOP foreign policy, the United States has been left behind in the Middle East while the actors move on to forge their own destinies, our influence drastically reduced to whatever we can obtain through the barrel of a gun.

How can a nominee and his party claim any superiority on foreign policy experience and wisdom when they are shown to be so out of touch with the real world and our own allies?
