Obama Less Troubled About Telecom Immunity

by Steve Soto

Obama indicated late yesterday that national security trumped concerns over granting telecoms immunity in the FISA bill, and all but said he would vote for it. I understand that Obama needs to guard against being seen as weak on fighting terrorists and that his campaign wants to avoid dying on this hill when nothing precludes him as president from going after the telecoms or Bush administration officials for criminal violations. But that doesn't mean I have to like how easy it seems for him to toss aside the immunity issue.
