Pushing Faith At The Expense of Balance

Well, from the campaign trail today, John McCain warned the country about the perils of a Supreme Court stacked with Obama appointees. This is exactly the kind of argument Obama needs to be making against McCain with independents, and was one of the downfalls of the Kerry effort in 2004.

But I suspect that we won’t hear much from Obama about the Supreme Court and the perils of a conservative supermajority, because Team Obama is spending so much time trying to grab evangelical votes, even beyond where Bush went.

As I said earlier, Kerry made a mistake back in 2004 by not reminding voters repeatedly that another Bush term would lead to fewer rights for all Americans. Now, here we are four years later, and the Supreme Court isn't even mentioned much if at all by Obama. In fact, a quick look at Obama's website reveals that the Supreme Court isn't even on his radar screen, and the last major thing he said about judicial selections was a year ago when he said his only criteria was to select judges with "empathy."
