Stop Bitchin' McCain
by Steve Soto
With each passing day, the McCain campaign resembles a bunch of whiny-assed cry babies. After manufacturing their outrage over Wes Clark's correct observation that being a POW doesn't make you an automatic commander in chief, McCain's daycare staff are now going after Senator Jim Webb for his appearance on "Countdown" last night, wherein Webb correctly pointed out that McCain was AWOL on the GI Bill and should calm down about making his military experience an automatic qualifier. The Romper Room crowd at McCain headquarters has the meme going that Obama can't control his surrogates, an interesting charge coming from any GOP campaign this decade.
This is really nothing more than a misdirection attempt by a pathetic, intellectually bankrupt campaign to keep everyone's attention off the fact that McCain has flip-flopped more than a salmon, and is surrounded by lobbyists who created this economic meltdown.
But if McCain really wants to make the same mistake John Kerry made in 2004, by hyping his military record as a qualifier, then the Democrats should oblige, just like Bush and his surrogates did that year.
And while they are at it, perhaps a couple of sharp Democratic operatives can start a message that poor John might cry if we push him around too much.
Maybe a domain like DontMakeJohnCry.com is available.
Update: Obama thankfully clarified that he wasn't throwing Clark under the bus yesterday.
