A Questionable Cover

Sure, it's certainly satire, given that it's the New Yorker and is the home to Seymour Hersh, and some damn good writers like Hedrik Hertzberg and Ryan Lizza, who pens a great political history of Obama in the same issue.

But the problem is that it's pretty poor satire, since it isn't poking fun at those who actually put forward this caricature of Obama every day. And if you are putting out satire that isn't immediately evident as satire, then what are you really trying to do here?
