Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger decided the lowest paid state workers should take a pay cut while he refuses to "increase taxes" on the wealthy even to eliminate the yacht rebate. Interesting how the poorest paid employees get to be the ones who bare the brunt of this draconian cut.
It didn't use to be that way.
During the 80s when Intel was having problems, their solution was a bit different. They decided that all salaried employees (including the CEO) could take a 10% pay cut rather than laying off the lowest paid employees. In those days, the better off were happy to take the hit so the less well paid didn't have to take a hit to help keep the company together. It says a lot about a society that thinks the poorest should pay the most when things get tough.
Your turn now.
