Todd Takes A Dump
by Steve Soto
Amidst the ongoing media-inspired narrative that the Democratic Party is engulfed in a civil war just below the surface, comes this nugget from Chuck Todd buried in his latest contribution to the "The Clintons Will Wreck It All" storyline.
Keep in mind this pearl of wisdom comes from the NBC/MSNBC "political director":
The Obama campaign truly is rolling the dice this week by giving the Clintons speaking slots on two separate nights.
Perhaps this was part of the deal with Hillary Clinton; Bill must not speak before her (he doesn't just like overshadowing opponents). But whatever the reason, the Clintons are already getting more deferential treatment by Barack Obama in this convention than the Clintons gave their opponents (or the Kennedys), or than George Bush gave John McCain in 2000. In fact, I'm struggling to find an example where a losing primary opponent got two nights of a convention.
Chuck, since Hillary speaks tonight and Bubba tomorrow night, where exactly does Hillary get "two nights of a convention?"
Chuck, doesn’t Obama owe the only two-term Democratic president since Roosevelt, from just eight years ago some degree of deference?
Chuck, can you name one losing primary opponent over our recent political history, especially a Clinton or Bush primary opponent, who received 18 million votes?
Thanks for playing Chuck, and for doing your part to push along the required storyline this week.
