War On Terror: Failure
by Steve Soto
On the seventh anniversary of what resulted from Bush’s impeachable negligence (ignoring the August 6th, 2001 PDB), and before General Petraeus takes over at CENTCOM this week, his bosses told Congress that the Bush Administration’s handling of the war on terror have led to potential failure. And yet McCain promises more of the same.
Both Joints Chiefs chairman Mullen and Robert Gates say that seven years later, we need to reassess and develop a new strategy where the WOT starts and ends, in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Mullen admitted that Bush’s timid move to redirect no more than several thousand troops from Iraq to Afghanistan months from now is too little. And as a sign of how derelict Bush has been in this alleged WOT, Osama still runs free years later, and we have lost the cooperation of both Pakistan and Afghanistan after Bush has treated them like well-paid doormats.
But let's have another four years of this under McCain, right?
