The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that the two domestic terrorists who plotted to murder over 100 African Americans and to assassinate Barack Obama are allegedly tied to a new skinhead hate group, one of many that has cropped up in the past few years.

The suspects are allegedly tied to a new skinhead hate group, the Supreme White Alliance (SWA), formed at the beginning of 2008. Both men allegedly attended a Hitler’s Birthday party held last April by the group.

SWA is headed by Steven Edwards, son of Ron Edwards, who leads the Imperial Klans of America. The Southern Poverty Law Center is currently involved in civil litigation with Ron Edwards and the IKA over the beating of a minority youth in July 2006.

The SPLC warns that the number of hate groups have risen by almost 50% since 2000 and as our country enters economic hard times, we are also entering a dangerous period as the white supremacists react to the candidancy and likely presidency of Barack Obama.
