The Left Coast Shrugs

The industrial Midwest was upended yesterday, but the Left Coast didn't get the memo. Democrats from the states on the Pacific will have lost 1-2 Congressional seats, probably retained all four of our U.S. Senators, and gained a net of 1-2 governorships. In California, Jerry Brown pummeled Meg's Millions by 13 points, Barbara Boxer cruised with a 10 point margin, and with one race still close Democrats were otherwise elected to all statewide offices. We appear to have held our margins in the state legislature and passed a critical initiative to allow budgets to be passed with a simple majority instead of 2/3, taking massive power away from Republicans.
