When the earth unleashes a huge earthquake, the time the ground takes to once more be stable can be very long. Days, weeks, months and even years later, aftershocks keep coming. In Japan, for the 9 days following the monster earthquake, there have been hundreds of aftershocks. You can follow the earthquake activity with this cool Quake Map that shows the quake activity along the fault over time.
