Dangerous Dithering about Reducing Carbon Emissions

by Mary

According to the International Energy Association, the planet is on a very dangerous course to an unlivable climate. Indeed, delaying to address carbon emissions until 2017 guarantees that the planet will overshoot the 2° C warming goal (450 scenario).

Achieving the 450 scenario will require significant advances in moving off carbon energy by both China and the US, but the effort required would put the planet on track to stopping the warming to 2° C.

Our current trajectory puts us on the path to a horrific 6° C (almost 11° F) which will make our planet a living hell on earth so our work is cut out for us.
