Looking Into Mitt's Heart

by Deacon Blues

Mitt Romney told the NAACP yesterday that if they could only know his true heart, they would realize he’s better for them than Barack Obama. Hours after that appearance, in front of his supporters in Montana, Romney showed the NAACP his true heart:

"If they want more stuff from the government, tell them to go vote for the other guy — more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free."

But Mitt seems to ignore that he gets free stuff all the time, none of which is truly free. Mitt gets tax breaks and uses tax shelters to reduce his tax burden more than the rest of us. And Mitt’s company Bain Capital shook down localities and the public treasuries for corporate welfare and tax subsidies to help finance their plundering of acquired companies, thereby reducing Mitt’s and Bain’s risk and vastly increasing their return on investment. So free stuff is OK for Mitt, just not for the little people.

And remember the Romney pushback during the primaries that tried to minimize the job losses he was directly responsible for while leading Bain? Those were lies as well: Romney was heading Bain more recently than he claimed, and responsible for plundering and profiteering he initially denied.

Hat tip to Think Progress
