Comments: US Attorney Purgegate - Margaret Chiara

As always, an excellent job, eri.

I find it fascinating how disposable other people are for the people in the White House, and how the WH's poor mentality pops-up in the levers and knobs of the people they control. Nevermind they're this administration's appointees. Nevermind they're Republicans (most likely). Fuck 'em, is what the bosses say. Meanwhile, the underlings who have to do the work, follow orders, malign their friends and associates in public, and then still assume they can protect their own.

Excellent post.

I have to say, I feel sorry for Ms. Chiara and how badly she was treated by Team Abu.

But at the "end of the day" (that tiresome phrase), Margaret Chiara, who has been so appallingly treated here, and all her MI Repub friends and supporters, will continue to blindly vote for more "conservative" Repubs for high office.

Are they allowed to sue for wrongful termination and defamation of character?

"Are they allowed to sue for wrongful termination and defamation of character?"

That wouldn't redound to the pleasure of the president, would it.

What's mind boggling in all these communications is the utterly Amoral approach ALL these people have toward truth, justice and the (once)American way.

Last night when I saw these documents, I wondered if you'd jump in. Welcome to the soup!

PS: A link shortcut - if you stick #page=25 on the end of a pdf link, it will open to that page. eg "(page 25 of this PDF file):" and this PDF file are the same.

Note that there is one statement that should be verifiable as true or false in the DOJ talking points on Chiara's removal-- that management problems in her office required "an on-site visit by management experts from our EOUSA to visit and mediate with members of the leadership team." Chiara's comments show no sign that she had previously been aware that DOJ had any concerns over management issues.

Posted by localmotion at March 20, 2007 09:37 AM

We shouldn't feel particularly sorry for this person. She's actively colluding with the DOJ in trying to make sure they all share the same talking points.

Are they allowed to sue for wrongful termination and defamation of character?

Depends on whom they tried to sue.

We shouldn't feel particularly sorry for this person.

Heck, we shouldn't feel bad for ANY of these people. They were hand-picked hacks, and they just weren't hackish enough.

It's like I felt about that guy who Pacemaker Dick shot in the face. My sympathies for highly-placed Republican operatives are pretty limited.

CNN is reporting that the Congressional investigating committees will accept a "deal" to have Rove and Meirs chat-it-up with the investigators without being under oath or in public view.

Raise holy hell with your representatives. Raise holy hell with all Democratic representatives.

If this deal turns about to be true, believe everything you have ever been told about Dems being the virtual twins of Republicans...except dumber.

Who'd have thought it possible?

gtash, say not so! I thought Schumer rejected that "offer." I watched Leahy on Sunday say he would subpoena Rove and Miers. Dagnabbit!

Posted by iamcoyote at March 20, 2007 02:01 PM

Mickey, that's a great PDF tip. Thanks!

Note to the others - I would not assume people are "hand-picked hacks" just because they were appointed by this administration. I would most certainly not characterize Carol Lam or John McKay that way and given I know little about the others I wouldn't characterize them that way either. I think they should be given benefit of doubt, especially if they are career civil servants. At the end of the day, regardless of their partisan affiliations what matters is whether they were treated fairly or not. The evidence is clear that they were not.
