Joe Lieberman and Claire McCaskill are Gawd's voice on Earth, don't ya know. Mankind would be hopelessly adrift in a moral quagmire without their sage counsel. Elton John said that Joe apparently has fancier underwear than Claire, by the way.
Posted by tempus at March 28, 2007 09:24 AMRove and his ilk do things for reasongs, especially if teh reasons are petty. They knew that Fox wouldn't pass, and even if he did pass, it was all about rubbing his stench under Kerry's nose.
Posted by dav at March 28, 2007 09:24 AMtoo bad Kerry didn't fight this hard when a presidency was on the line.
Posted by T2 at March 28, 2007 09:43 AMI'm trying to imagine what it would be like to be able to throw $50,000 donations around so widely and so cavalierly that I didn't even notice when one of the recipients is featured in every news broadcast for weeks during one of the most hotly contested campaigns in decades.
If he doesn't care about what people do with the money he gives them, can I get some? I'd be a lot happier with $50,000. Maybe he could give me two, one for my wife? Oh, and I have three cats...
Posted by biggerbox at March 28, 2007 10:19 AMThey must be biding their time but somewhere down the line they are going to have to deal with Lieberman.
If memory serves me well, which is questionable, Bert Walker, III, first cousin to GHWB, (who lives in St. Louis) was serving as the Belgium Embassador until late last year. Of course, he was singing the praises of Sam Fox on NPR this morning. I am also somewhat surprised at Claire McCaskill position on Fox.
During the interview on NPR, Bush was saying that Jeb Bush would make a terrific vice-president for one of the candidates. I admit, that horrifying thought never crossed my mind. Hopefully he doesn't know something we don't.
Posted by Judith at March 28, 2007 11:01 AMWell of course, it was more than good enough for Holy Joe. He probably gave money to the Swift Boat project himself.
I believe Fox is from McCaskill's state, and this was one of those courtesy endorsements.
Posted by cervantes at March 28, 2007 11:01 AMImagine if Michael Brown had received this level of oversight. Public humiliation is really too good for these hacks.
Posted by peconicrat at March 28, 2007 11:26 AMCorrection:
George H. Walker, III, was embassador to Hungary. Yes, Fox is from Missouri, the same state that gave you Asscroft and Talent.
Oh, and Roy Blunt.
Posted by Judith at March 28, 2007 11:29 AMMcCaskill is now on my shit list, she should know better even if the scumbag comes from her state.
And so is Jon Stewert for letting the unfunny flip-flopper Dennis Miller denegrate Pelosi and Robert Byrd last night for a pathetic attempt at crude humor.
Stephen Colbert has put even more distance between them after last nights fiasco.
And Keith Olberman just continues to shine.
Posted by TIKI AL at March 28, 2007 11:33 AMCome on, Claire. Don't be a cunt. Joe ain't gonna respect you in the morning anyway.
Is it any coincidence that this douche tool is named "Fox?" I think not.

*****
I think all of those involved in the treasonous Smearboat lies should be lined up and summarily shot.
How's THAT for freedom of expression, asshole?
Posted by God Of War at March 28, 2007 12:19 PMHeh.
TIKI - Dennis Miller was on Daily Show? Oy! I'll have to watch tonight. I'm willing to give Jon Stewart the benfit of the doubt after totally trashing Bolton - what a great interview that was.
Posted by iamcoyote at March 28, 2007 12:33 PMStewert sat by while Miller thrashed Nancy Pelosi and Robert Byrd for no reason and did NOTHING.
I never thought Miller was funny when he was a liberal, now he's just pathetic.
Posted by TIKI AL at March 28, 2007 05:49 PM"The Swift Boaters, by attacking John Kerry's medals, have cheapened every medal won by every soldier.

I've been making this exact point since the "swift boating" of Sen. John Kerry began. In fact, I even emailed the Swift Boat Liars back in 2004, pointing out that if the U.S. Navy Department erred in issuing medals for valor to Lt. John Kerry, then why should I believe that their medals were anymore valid than his, which they claimed were awarded fraudulently to him? The email I got in response hemmed and hawed and then hee-hawed, like the jackasses the Swift Boat Liars really are.
Someone at the U.S. Navy Department realized that their integrity and credibility in issuing medals to members of our navy had been called into question. Three weeks before the November 2004 presidential election, therefore, the U.S. Navy Department issued a statement reaffirming their award of medals for valor to Lt. John Kerry, as well as defending the U.S. Navy Department's awarding of medals to all members of the U.S. Navy throughout it's history.
But there's more. If the U.S. Navy Department screwed up, as the Swift Boat Liars implied, then what makes me think other Pentagon branches aren't in the habit of screwing up when they issue medals?
In other words, the Swift Boat Liars in attacking the credibility of Sen. John Kerry's medals, and the integrity of the U.S. Navy Department in issuing them, also attacked the credibility of any medal ever awarded any member of our military!!!
I was shocked. I served in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1970s. I demanded an apology from the Swift Boat Liars back in October 2004 (which, of course, I know I'll never get, anymore than they'll apologize to Sen. John Kerry, or apologize to all the members of our military, no matter which branch, whose medals they also smeared).
So, it's gratifying to see that the jackass Fox won't get an ambassadorship.
