Comments: Laughing Through Disaster

Well your right, that disgusting show last night was really a grotesque display. But Nancy, Howard and the rest of the gang joined right in. It made me want to vomit.

The Rude Pundit, as always, has the definitive response.

That's OK let them have the laughs because in about 20 years the Bush Adminstration will become a punchline. After he leaves office he gets to hear about being The Worst President Ever from here on end

Already, the name Bush has become a new adjective/adverb for screwing up as heard in a meeting last week. "We really 'Bushed' that project last month and need corrections promptly."

Or as used by my wife "You pulled a George Bush and left dog poop out when we had company over"

Correction: 'yukking' it up. Unless the pun was intentional.

Either way, Bad, Steve! Bad!

"We stand united in saying loud and clear that when we've got a troop in harm's way, we expect that troop to be fully funded," Bush said,

Who says 'troop'? I mean really. What are we in the Boy Scouts? Are the Boy Scouts over in Iraq now? Are we that deep into the barrel?

...surrounded by Republicans on the North Portico, "and we got commanders making tough decisions on the ground, we expect there to be no strings on our commanders."

Definitely don't want any strings on our commanders. That's for sure. And no food on our families either.

OMG - has everyone seen the YouTube of MC Rove's Rap? I've lost respect for Brad Sherwood and Colin Mochrie.

Posted by idiosynchronic at March 29, 2007 10:58 AM

"Bush and his delusional lackey John McCain continue to insist from their extremely selective, sanitized, and painstakingly pre-arranged first hand observations...."

There, fixed it for ya, Steve! ;-)

snark, don't they use Silly String to look for tripwires? Maybe he's saying they don't want any roughhousing with the commanders? War's a serious biz, just watch the video of rappin' Rove.

BTW, SoS uses "troop" when talking about a single soldier.

Posted by iamcoyote at March 29, 2007 10:59 AM

Thanks Steve, I had just finished lunch when I saw "MC Rove" in full, frenetic action. The pictures on bagnotes that Daryl pointed to were good. Nancy Pelosi put her hand on W's shoulder. She should have given him a quick rub, but the SS were probably fingering their guns as it was.

By all the Gods! When you lift up the rock and good ol' Karl first slithers out, he's incredibly subdued (boring). After a few minutes in front of all his best friends, though, he's the very life of the party. Gee, they didn't seem to be so merry last year, when they had an actual comedian for entertainment. What a comfortable night for all!

I sent this letter to the Philly Inquirer this morning and thought I'd share.

The President has recently vowed to veto the supplemental appropriation
funding the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Bush and his
supporters claim that Congress is irresponsibly "interfering" with
the "commanders in the field" and his authority as Commander in
Chief. If a suitable bill is not passed quickly, he said, the Defense Department
will begin to run out of money.

Perhaps the president and his partisans should actually read the
Constitution. Among the many powers assigned to the Congress are: To
declare war - To raise and support armies - To provide and maintain
a Navy - TO MAKE RULES FOR THE GOVERNMENT AND REGULATION OF THE LAND
AND NAVAL FORCES.

Congress represents the will of the people and last election, that will
was clearly expressed. If Mr. Bush decides to veto the supplemental
funding, it will be he who imperils the American men and women in harms
way and it will be done in the furtherance of illegitimate and
unconstitutional assertions of power he simply does not possess. There
is another constitutionally defined congressional power. Section Four,
Article 2 "The President, Vice President and ALL civil officers of
the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and
conviction of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors".
Decisions of war AND PEACE are made by the civilian government, not
*military commanders in the field*. One man, no matter his
position, cannot be *the decider* on such a vital issue!

BTW, SoS uses "troop" when talking about a single soldier.

I knew he was a Bushie!

Just strkies me as odd. Why would he use the singular instead of 'when we've got troops in harms way we expect those troops to be fully funded'? And notice he said the troop needs to be 'fully funded'. Not 'fully equipt'.

As for strings. I wanna know why Bush hates paratroopers?

Posted by snark at March 29, 2007 11:44 AM

Bush hates everyone, snark, as you know. And he hates strings most of all. Maybe Barr used to tie him up in the closet when he was a little 'un.

As for his verbal gaffes, I suspect he's just drunk all the time!

Posted by iamcoyote at March 29, 2007 12:35 PM

"And notice he said the troop needs to be 'fully funded'. Not 'fully equipt'.

Snark, Bush could care less about equipment for the troops, but funds, money, cash, moola, dinero, now there's something he can get excited about. Seems these slips of the tongue are increasing among Bush and his fellow worshipers, i.e., "do you want Karl under oath or do you want the truth." (Tony Snow)

Why aren't the Democrats saying that they are not responsible for whether Bush signs the bill or not, but if he doesn't sign it, he is responsible for the lack of funding for the troops, not the Democrats. STOP LETTING THEM FRAME THE ISSUE!

Posted by Judith at March 29, 2007 12:37 PM

My, my, my, so the senate passes a bill with withdrawal dates---I thought that was "impossible" after the House foolishly passed its bill. ahem...

As Judith says, this will now come down to framing and media bias. If the upcoming headlines do not state, "Bush vetoes troop funding, withdrawal dates" after his petulant veto, then we know the corporate press will be doing all it can to destroy the Democratic Congress.

Great work, Nancy and Harry!! But now you've got to really lean on the horrendous corporate media to prevail in the upcoming Battle to the Death with Nero, which is what this will be.
