What is means is that the Mormons have a ton of money to spend. If/When Romney backs out all that money will go to the frontrunner at the time.
Posted by paul at April 2, 2007 01:00 PMPaul is right...every Mormon is kicking in for Mit. McCain is toast as his dwindling $ total shows. 152 dead in Tal Afar and hundreds hurt in Kirkut and he's on TV telling us how great things are in Iraq. GOPers aren't gonna throw money away on a guy who mistakes a dead body for a guy taking a nap.
Posted by T2 at April 2, 2007 01:10 PMThe Mormons are like that other cult, the Scientologists and they have tons of ca$h and they support their own.
The good news is, every poll I've read says the majority of voters won't support Mitt "Wilbur" Romney no matter how perfectly coiffed is his hair.
Posted by Christopher at April 2, 2007 01:27 PMThe only thing staggering about the Clinton campaign is the amount of condescending bullshit spewing forth from it.
I cannot believe that the Democratic party is seriously flirting with a candidate who will practically guarantee defeat. Fuck, that's staggering.
Posted by God Of War at April 2, 2007 02:10 PMDid I wander into to a taping of "Let's All Hate On the Mormons!"?
I'm surprised at Sen. Clinton's money count. Maybe be shocked, maybe astounded. Maybe even horrified that politics has come to huge sums of cash contributions. But that her campaign is spinning her inevitable power ain't. It's like a villain from The Incredibiles who can't stop himself from monologuing about the hero's final defeat.
But the real news is Romney & McCain's fundraising totals. It is apparent that while we've been laughing at his positional flip-flopping and sneering at the GOP bases' reluctance to seriously consider a Mormon, his funding network is tight and competent. The man & his organization obviously know to shake donors down from his time with the U.S. Salt Lake Olympic bid.
Posted by idiosynchronic at April 2, 2007 02:59 PMThis morning on the Today Show, they kept mentioning the size of Hillary's bottom line, and all I could think of was those paparazzi snaps of her and Bill frolicking on a beach somewhere while on vacation. Oi! That tank suit she was wearing certainly revealed an enormous bottom line, and that was before she even ran for the Senate!

Posted by Donald Cormac at April 2, 2007 03:55 PMAnd I thought the GOP had ALL the fat cats. Well at least that's what the media tells us. Where was Bill Clinton in 1991? How much had he raised?
More significant, the DNC site, Dems picking a non-union site in Denver while the GOP picked heavily unionized Minnesota. Seem labor doesn't like that too much. Hoffa's mad, is Sweeney? Wonder how hard they're going to work for ya?
