Comments: Another "They Were Warned" Story

I was reviewing the sheer number of suspicious incidents surrounding 9-11 well before preparations for the Iraq War got underway. There was no single "Aha!" moment. There were simply too many unexplained or not-fully-explained incidents to NOT believe that 9-11 was either an inside job or that Bush wasn't displaying an absolutely amazing amount of incompetence.

Nice to finally see this stuff that we (the reality based community) knew was out there. This is what the Bushies have tried for years to cover up; they were warned, and didn't do anything about it, because they needed a catalyst for their wars for oil. Is it possible for a president's approval rating to go into the negative?

there were plenty warnings, the French revelation only the latest. All were ignored by Bush. Perhaps a few highjackings would be acceptable to force the American people to submit to the PNAC War on Terror and all it's brought us. If you ignore pointed warnings repeatedly....well, there can only be two conclusions to be reached. One is reckless ignorance. Guess the other.

It went something like this:

Some Intel Person: "Mr. pretzledent, there are ample warnings that a terrorist group intends to hijack planes and use them as weapons against United States interests."

The Mad King: "Can you link it to Eye-raq?"

And that, in brief, was the exchange. No conspiracy. Simple incompetence.

p-dip, I think Richard Clarke relates that exact conversation in his book about 9-11 Against All Enemies.

Come on you guys, without 9/11 we couldn't have a 'War on Terror.'

Sydney imposed a no fly zone before the 2000 Olympics. Is it seriously suggested that the US government's is outgunned by Australia in terms of intelligence assets?

It emerged after the September 11 attack in New York that Australian security forces had planned for a scenario during the Sydney Olympics whereby al-Qaida would hijack a jet and crash it into the main stadium during the opening ceremony.
