Isn't it somehow inhuman to resort to quantification so much, Steve?
Posted by Toby Petzold at April 17, 2007 04:46 PMSo what does this all mean? We can look forward to more of the same for the next two years? Same horror? Same horror? Same horror? Same horror? Same horror?
Puleeezzzeeeeee! And you know he ain't leavin' until he has to. By that time we'll all be dead from a nuclear bomb dropped on us by Lynn Chaney.
This is what the alternative said:
John Kerry Says Don Imus Shouldn't Have Been Fired
"In an interview with NY1 political anchor Dominic Carter, Mass. Senator John Kerry says radio-show host Don Imus should not have been fired by CBS – and won’t rule out appearing on a future program hosted by the controversial shock jock.
Kerry is the first high-profile Democrat not to support Imus’ ouster – who was fired last Thursday after making remarks about the Rutgers women’s basketball team.
Here is a transcript of Kerry’s remarks:
Kerry: “I think that the…you know the punishment has to fit the crime so to speak. I think a long suspension, or a strong suspension met with his appropriate level, given that the team forgave him. To me it was in the hands of the young women. They made the judgment that they thought he was genuine and they felt they could forgive him. And I think it was appropriate to pay a price on the airwaves but I’m not sure that it was appropriate to say you’re off forever.”"
Your other leading Democrats seem to disagree. Al Sharpton and good old Jesse Jackson campaigned to fire him. Where's a candidate to go to reach low income white independents? ALGORE offended these people with his gun control stance and lost the presidency in losing Arkansas, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Even union homes with guns only gave ALGORE 50% with Bush getting 50%; as a whole ALGORE recieved 61% of the union vote. Seems JFKerry knows this and wants to reach out to these people more.
Me thinks he wants to run again.
Posted by peter at April 17, 2007 07:48 PMIt's not galling. Harry Truman faced the same adversity yet is remembered in greatness.
Posted by lordtyranus2 at April 17, 2007 09:12 PMTwo things strike me about this chart. Firstly,Bush peaked in Quarter 5 (after 9/11) and has been steadily dropping every since. Note where he was at Q3-already sinking since he took office. I wonder where his presidency would have gone if not for 9/11- a disaster he was repeatedly warned about. Secondly, Q17 appears to be the last time he was above 50%. That is a long time ago, folks. That's 8 quarters ago....for the trolls, that means 2 years ago. The miracle election of '04, where for one magic day, 51% of the country liked him, but on either side of that only 47% did.
Welcome back Tobytroll, glad to see the parole came through.
