IEDs will be going off over here.
God damn-it. I knew The Mad King, idiot son of George, disbanded the military and left a bunch of munitions laying about in America.
Posted by phidipides at April 21, 2007 12:50 AMAnother crazed conservative. I'm surprised George hasn't used that one. IEDs on the roads of America. Who would have thunk it.
Posted by Judith at April 21, 2007 03:16 AMwell, I thin that's pretty much the most generous thing you can say and I think its right. I hope the election over there can be localized and that the local corruption can be tied around his neck since his father is also local. We are going to have to think like Karl rove and use his strength as a weakness.

Posted by aimai at April 21, 2007 05:12 AMWhat can one say except that he's not a chicken hawk?
Well for starters I can say his opinion is representive of the minority of experts and Americans. And although I don't have any data/polling, I bet the minority point of view in the ranks of the military too... so to me that says alot about his "qualifications" or lack thereof. Having said that, I do appreciate his service, even if it is for a lost cause, and wish him a safe return.
Posted by emal at April 21, 2007 06:33 AMWhat can one say? Duncan Jr. gots his lamebrain "conservative" talking points down, fer sure.
Just more extremely embarassing nepotism in cronyist BushAmerica. Did we always use to be like this?
Your long serving Congressman resigns---who should replace him? Why, obviously his 30 year old son! There couldn't be anyone more qualified in the entire district!
The Right just can't get enough of this crappy father/son genetic politician shit. Fuckin' senile, mouthbreathing, miltarist SD GoOPers.
Posted by euzoius at April 21, 2007 07:18 AMwhat a loon. comparing one cause to another end result and having no connection. pure politician, all full of shit and doing it's best to retain it for use later.
Posted by oldtree at April 21, 2007 08:25 AMEuzoius, yep. When Roy Blunt from Missouri retires, Matt Blunt will be there off stage waiting.
Posted by Judith at April 21, 2007 08:30 AMIn the East County, that war service will garner a lot of unthinking votes.
But if you can tie Hunter to Blackwater, which is not going to be quite as popular, you can peel back a few votes, and stick them onto whoever we get to run against him.
Whoever that is.
Posted by Duckman GR at April 21, 2007 08:38 AMYou realize that in a few years people like this man -- who have participated in mass slaughter -- and others who have participated in mass torture -- will be back and integrated into American society.
The impacts of this war will be felt by America for decades.
Posted by anony at April 21, 2007 08:52 AMSounds a lot like Liz Cheney to me--keep your pappy happy by parroting the family neocon lies, keep the entitlements flowing!
Posted by cheSF at April 21, 2007 10:06 AMWhy is it that rightwingers don't think that fundies can walk and chew camel-crud at the same time?
On any given day, they could pull a Cho times ten.
And before we jump on the Hunter-Bush nepotism band wagon(and I'd love to), remember that Al Gore's daddy was a senator also.
Posted by TIKI AL at April 21, 2007 10:46 AManother warmongering douchebag rethuglican.
or am I being redundant?

Uh huh. Kind of like drunk driving Ted Kennedy replaced his brother, and Mr. Ivotedagainstcivilrights Gore Sr. was replaced by his even more boring son.
Oh, and the Bayhs too.
Not suprising though to see the left bash a war hero they know nothing about because of his last name.
Posted by lordtyranus2 at April 21, 2007 06:29 PMWell it modifies the chickenhawk argument because he is going over and fighting in Iraq and then coming back to run for office. Kind of explains its self there doesn't it.
And it seems to me to be just a tad childish to call a man who joins this countries armed forces to serve his country names. It is this kind of behavior that causes many people to question the progressives suport of our troops.
What brought out the trolls, old ones and new ones? Hey trolls, how does it feel to support a man who has the approval rating of Nixon in his final days? Losers support other losers.
Posted by Judith at April 22, 2007 12:13 AMJudith, I believe it was Stephen Sondheim who sent in the trolls.
Posted by TIKI AL at April 22, 2007 12:25 AM"many people to question the progressives suport of our troops"
if the troops were actuallty defending this country, rather than running a murderous, illegal, and immoral occupation of a country that was and is no threat to us, they'd have my full support.
murdering, maiming, raping, torturing, and imprisoning Iraqis is just a cause I can't get behind, sorry.
Posted by ran at April 22, 2007 07:26 AMHow does it feel to support a man who has the approval rating of Nixon in his final days? Losers support other losers.
I suppose its the same as your side felt after Kerry got his ass handed to him. Losers support other losers, right?
Only difference is Kerry is actually a loser.
Posted by lordtyranus2 at April 22, 2007 11:15 AMWow, only an idiot neocon would think that 48% is "getting your ass handed to you". Sad thing is, that's all Bush seems to be able to do: win elections. He certainly can't run wars or do basic math.
Posted by Ga6thDem at April 22, 2007 04:32 PMHunter senior represents a district that is populated by active and retired military, has a number of military bases and is very conservative. Hunter junior seems to be reflecting the thoughts of most of the district so he probably would make a good candidate in this district.
And I doubt that most of the negative commenters are even able to vote for or against him.
Active service and name recognition should allow him to win.
Let me ask a question: Why is it wrong that he run for the position? This is not nepotism since his father is not appointing him, rather he is running for the position, from Iraq for now, based on his political positions and his active service in the Marine Corps. Is that wrong, illegal or even immoral?
The fact that his position does not agree with that of a lot of readers here (including me) should not be a factor as to whether he should run or not. Let the voters decide.
