Comments: 56% Agree With Democrats On Withdrawal Deadline

"I guess this makes 56% of the country defeatists, surrender-monkeys, or whatever today's right-wing epithet is."

No, it makes 56% of the Country traitors and enablers.

Oh, and unpatriotic.

If this doesn't give the Democrats the courage to stand by their convictions, nothing will.

Harry and Nancy'd best be pushin' the deciderer, because he only cares about the haves and havemores that he calls his base, and continuous war adds to their coffers.

You're right, of course. If there's anything that cries out more for direct democratic control, it's got to be the conduct of a war.

The rightness or the wrongness of a thing has absolutely nothing to do with how it polls, Steve.

You'd never believe me if I told you that reading your comment just now made me pity you.

Reid's and Pelosi's only conviction is getting more Democrats elected. Having principles beyond that is probably gauche.

John Stewart hit the nail on the head last night, responding to the GOP argument that if we set a timeline, the "insurgents" will just wait us out. His well taken point was that the people Bush calls insurgents are actually Iraqi's.... they live there, and they'll be there after we leave whether we leave in a month or a decade or a century... We are occupying their country... they'll wait as long as needed OR until they've had enough-in which case they'll blow us out of there. I'm guessing the later scenario may come first.

Basically the GOP is calling most Americans stupid and weak, after lying them into a quagmire of epic proportions. Oh, and be afraid and don't vote for Democrats or you might get attacked like when the GOP was in power.

!

Yeah. That's a fucking political party ripe for another rout. You think 2006 was an asskicking? Ha! If the GOP keeps this shit up, 2006 will have been a nailbiter by comparison.

Toby:

You may think that throwing around French words (i.e. gauche) will help you to better communicate with us, but you'd be wrong.

Your continued support for Bush and the Republicans signals your utter lack of principles. There is a discussion about war and democracy worth having (though not with you). In this case, the clear point is that the President and his party are isolated in their tactics (they have no beliefs, principles, or values). The majority of the American public is growing smarter and more engaged every day. That's a good thing. Unfortunately, it throws into relief the gap between those who are awake or awakening and those who have given up the ghost and are craven or cowardly. It's not as pretty of a picture as it could be.

I am so angry. If Bill Moyers "Buying the War" doesn't wake up the people of this Country, absolutely nothing will. The truth is out now, on the airwaves, and every person who is in the media business, should be shot, or at the very least, run out of town, and that means you Judith Miller, William Kristol, Safire, Ailes, etc.

Powell, may your conscious haunt you until the day you die. Disgrace is too good for you. You are a traitor along with Perle, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Bush, Condi and all the rest of you lying bastards. You should be so lucky to go to hell.

Any family that has a child in Iraq right now or has a child murdered in Iraq, and sees this story, should march on Washington and demand that Bush be impeached, or tried as a traitor to this Country immediately and hung.

Please write a letter to PBS and to Bill Moyers. We cannot allow the right to drown out our voices. Moyers has done one of the greatest service to this Country with "Buying the War."

Yeah, I am enraged!!!!!!!

I know it's nothing that we haven't known, but this special brought it all to a head for me tonight.

Sorry, meant to post above in another comment section.

Toby, I don't need your fucking pity. Pity the ones who have lost people they loved in your fucking war, you asshole. You can take your pity and shove it up your ass. I am in no mood for pricks like you right now. Yeah, and that is very unChristian of me, before any smart ass makes a comment.

If the American people believed a war our leaders chose was necessary and essential to their security, they'd tolerate ten times the present casualties and more to see it through. The nation's written this fiasco off as another scam from the usual grifters. Soon soldiers will mutiny and rebel.

Yes Pvt. Keepout, and how many more people are going to get the feared 'knock on the door' before these murderous motherfuckers are stopped?

3,335 and climbing.

It is this kind of fundamentally flawed recording and reiterating that basically leads to defeat. If the talking point is get out (who wants to be in any war ever?).... then naturally the sentiments will so reveal themselves eventually. The real point, however, is that polls should not run a war. If the majority of the legislators believe that their constituents want an end to this war -- then so vote and cut the funds and return the armed forces. It they have misinterpreted their constituents, next election they will be voted out of office. Simple.
