I'm sure that Medal of Freedom bought a lot of silence.
Posted by Flamethrower at April 27, 2007 08:38 AM“He was absolutely in charge, determined, and directed,” Mr. Tenet writes of the president,
Right, like when he was told we were under attack, and he stared like a skunk in the headlights for 7 minutes while holding that book describing Tenet: "My Pet Scapegoat".
Posted by TIKI AL at April 27, 2007 08:56 AMTiki, he thought it was just supposed to be a hijacking.
Posted by T2 at April 27, 2007 09:14 AMI'm sure Tenet got the phone call from Poppy & Co. advising him to hold the Kid blameless.
Or else Tenet might wind up in a ditch in rural Virginia, face down.
Posted by Christopher at April 27, 2007 09:16 AMI hope someone is going to be able to explain Bush, Jr. to me someday. The people that surround him should be beating his brains in, but instead they destroy their own credibility and praise him.
Posted by Jim DeRosa at April 27, 2007 09:29 AMJim, let me help. Have you ever, maybe in school, been around or known a rich kid..with an "important" dad? He usually had some spending money for some extra drinks, a real nice car, maybe invited the other kids over to swim in his pool. And he was a jerk. But you put up with that to get the other goodies or just to say to some girl you met "yeah, I know Billy Bob, we just went over to swim at his place, his dad the senator was there". And she goes "cool". But the guy is still a jerk.
Posted by T2 at April 27, 2007 09:49 AMTiki do think Bush already knew and therefore did not need to hurry. Remember NORAD was supposedly having an exercise that day.
Posted by JohnT at April 27, 2007 09:56 AMShould read do you think.
Posted by JohnT at April 27, 2007 09:59 AMWe that out by ourselves, John.
Posted by TIKI AL at April 27, 2007 10:10 AMSeems the grownups have decided that it's time for some more of W's play date pals to run along home.
They never rally liked W playing with those lower class strivers anyway. Now that they’ve served their purpose they can go join Rummy and Tenet .

[Editor: ignore=off]Tenet's going to be on 60 Minutes this Sunday at 7:00 PM EDT.
Be sure to catch this wretched grasping gasbag's indignant, self-serving and unprincipled attempt to exculpate his criminal involvement in our nation's torture scandal by browbeating and intimidating CBS's Scott Pelley.
So George, you scummy thug, just who did write the Iraq-Niger forgeries?
And why?
Let's hope nobody buys his useless/meaningless tome, and the publisher has eat whatever the advance was.
The publisher and Tenet should have noted the response to Gonzales' Senate hearing. "I can't recall," "I don't know" and "never thought about that does not rehabilitate the reputation of war criminals or incompetents.
Tenet is in the same fish bowl as Powell, they sold their soul and honor to be a junior and shooter puppet! cleve
Posted by cleve at April 27, 2007 07:29 PMI can understand Tenet's reluctance to call out the Bush Syndicate. This is four generatns of war profiteer's we are talking about. Samuel Bush was Head of Ordinance for WWI. The first asset grabbed in Poland by Hitler was the Silesian coal mines, which were undergoing a Socialist labor strike at the time. They were quickly restored to profitability through the use of slave labor and Prescott Bush had a few fortunate shares. It is hard to say how many pies Daddy Bush had fingers in over his astounding career, but one of the boats that off-loaded part of the invasion force in the Bay of Pigs was named "Zapata", which just happened to be the name of his oil company (another of the boats was simply named Barbara). And who was chairman of the Republican National Committee during Watergate?
If Tenet is reluctant to call the goons out, it is not surprising. For four generations Bushes have been suckling the rich, warm breast of government contracts with relish and impunity. It'll take more than the mewlings of one man to make them stop.
Posted by obelus at April 27, 2007 07:31 PMRemember the oil tanker "Condoleeza Rice"?
