Comments: It should be obvious

OMG Erin, I just had an epiphany, the republi-cons are "a barbaric and savage terrorist group which operates with no limits".

Posted by Seven of Six at June 1, 2007 01:27 PM

the world leader in terrorism is Al Qaida's greatest ally. this country. it's best ally is the saudi, but it is all the same now that the oil world has been settled, and halliburton, the saudi soda, and the U.S. of Oil have made their deal to screw the rest of the world.

but does anyone believe that France, GB, Russia, Japan, China, and any other so called "big" country isn't totally in on this with us?
lettuce knot bee knaive.

hint; make plans to move where you won't need a car, real soon.

You mean.....the HEAD CHOPPERS...actually torture people!

Good God! I had no idea!

And I've already sent out the invitations for Sunday brunch! I can't disinvite them NOW!

I need a mimosa.

Posted by snark at June 1, 2007 01:54 PM

I need a mimosa.

Elitist!

Anyhow, as Jon Stewart has said, the frikkin' wingnuts really do thing that we live in a Jack Baur plot. Scary.

Posted by iamcoyote at June 1, 2007 01:59 PM

Elitist!

Not!

I use Sparkling Wine.

Not Champaign. ;)

Posted by snark at June 1, 2007 02:06 PM

Sparkling wine? Ewww.

I was wondering, though. Why would terrorists need a "Torture for Dummies" manual? Really? And do they actually sit around the compound studying for finals or something? And do our people have torture manuals? I wonder if Bill Nelson would like to volunteer to be the guinea pig for the new Army Interrogation Techniques that he voted with the 'pukes to stop torture. Bastard!

Posted by iamcoyote at June 1, 2007 02:19 PM

I was wondering, though. Why would terrorists need a "Torture for Dummies" manual?

Because they're training a whole new slew of terrorists in their brand new and improved terrorist recruiting ground! Provided free of charge to al Queda courtesy of the US taxpayer and George W. Bush.

Duh!

Posted by snark at June 1, 2007 02:25 PM

One would think, being so intrisically and thoroughly evil, the terrorists would automatically know how to effectively torture. Or else watch 24. Or any one of those Hostel movies. Ugh.

Yeah, yeah, I'm looking for logic in a madhouse.

Posted by iamcoyote at June 1, 2007 02:28 PM

There is always the possibility that the torture manuals were planted in the "Al Qaeda safehouses" so they could be 'found' by the soldiers and advertised to all the people who think that Bush tells the truth.

I use Sparkling Wine.

Oh good God. I don't mind the invitation to have Sunday brunch along with the t'rists, but sparkling wine? Holy mother of god! Is it any wonder the t'rists at your brunches aren't the "A" list t'rists? What the hell next, melted Velveeta instead of bernaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict? I think my RSVP will indicate a flare-up of anal cysts.

Posted by phidipides at June 1, 2007 05:00 PM

jwrjr, that was my first reaction. Futhermore, how ridiculous that Al Qaeda would even have such a "manual." Also, the only manuals we have are not about how to torture, but how far we can go in torturing.

Posted by Judith at June 1, 2007 05:44 PM

Furthermore, the stupid wing-nuts can't even see how ludicrous their reaction is. The obvious absurdity is laughable.

Posted by Judith at June 1, 2007 05:50 PM

Phidipides, wasn't Snark the one who insisted on serving spam and cocktail weenies at the last TLC Convention?

(Just kidding Snark)

Bill Moyers in on PBS right now. Pelosi's promise to make this Congress the most open and honest Congress in history.

Posted by Judith at June 1, 2007 06:05 PM

So THAT's why the wingnuts built the Creation Museum. No, no, don't make me look at the people riding dinosaurs! I'll talk! I'll talk!

Moral force? What does that get you? Military hyperpower isn't enough?
Don't those people only understand force? The US &/or Israel just smashes them and grabs what it wants.

And as for differing from pikers like al Qaeda, the US has been in their land killing them and subverting their governments since 1953 (Iran/Mossadegh, also '67+ Palestine, '78+ Lebanon, '79+ Iran & '91+ Iraq), so aren't we orders of magnitude greater in the "barbaric and savage terrorist group" business?

Didn't 500,000 Iraqi children die needlessly due to the draconian, inept and merciless '90s Clinton sanctions? Was I just dreaming about a Lancet study estimating Iraqi excess mortality (shot and blasted to gristle by US force protection & colateral damage) due to the deceitful '03 US aggression at 655,000? Am I really supposed to believe this horseshit about the US having moral force?

You mean "The Flame Thrower". Interesting presentation though, what with the Guinea fowl and all.

...most open and honest Congress in history.

Uhhhh....she is in the pocket of the corporations, never having met a lobbyest she wouldn't accept a check from. This Congrss is as open and honest as the one that preceeded it. That is the problem.

Am I really supposed to believe this horseshit about the US having moral force?

When WASP males do it it is always moral. What part of this lesson don't you understand?

"I just had an epiphany, the republi-cons are "a barbaric and savage terrorist group which operates with no limits."

Seven of Six, I had an epiphany when you said that. Your right. Any means justifies the end with these people

Difficult to be a moral leader when you hire someone to "rough" up someone.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A legislative leader was arrested Friday on charges that he tried to have a businessman at the center of a federal racketeering probe arrange to threaten someone the senator believed was abusing a relative.

State and federal authorities said Senate Minority Leader Louis DeLuca in 2005 sought help from James Galante, a Danbury trash hauler currently awaiting trial on 72 counts of tax fraud, racketeering, threatening and extortion.

Why doesn't the wing-nuts get as upset with things like this:

Former Sex Blogger Files for Bankruptcy

Jessica Cutler, the former Senate aide whose online sex diary landed her a book deal and a Playboy photo spread but got her kicked off Capitol Hill, has filed for bankruptcy.

Cutler, an aide to then-Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, created the "Washingtonienne" blog in 2004 and began posting racy details about her sex life with six men, including a Senate colleague and "a few generous older gentlemen" who she said paid many of her living expenses.

Do you think DeWine could have known about this? Oh, of course not.

Wait until the wackos of the right get a sniff of Haggarty's lovers new tell all book.

I know the last two posts were off topic, but my point was that the "wingnuttia is working itself up into an apoplexy over a manual," while the Party they support wallows in the dirt. Displaced anger I would say.

Hello, Erin. Glad to hear from you. I discovered torture forty years ago, frying ants with a magnifying glass. I've hated myself ever since. I didn't even know their names, their wives or their kids.

I have given up on any torture for thirty-three years, although my liver would disagree. I never liked it anyway. It is a very annoying organ.

You are doing a great job, and keep at it.

Posted by tempus at June 2, 2007 06:54 AM

Thanks, Erin.

"It is a very annoying organ."(tempus)

Your liver performs over 500 functions. It does everything but blog. Please take care of it. The transplant list is as backed up as a bad liver.

Possibly, but it doesn't do any of them well. My liver is a cross between David Crosby and Keith Richards, if that puts things into perspective.

I would happily give my life to save almost anything on our planet (skunks are not included). We are all Gawd’s (sic) creatures, and to think otherwise shows one's ignorance. And I'm an atheist!

If skunks just behaved themselves, there would be no problem. Scout and Moneypit listen up.!
