Bright, shiny object distracton before the Libby sentencing?
Thought so.
How many times will we hear Russert and Tweety say "both Democrats and Republicans do it" tomorrow?
Posted by swoosh at June 4, 2007 02:25 PMwhat is sad is that any politician would continue to hold out if guilty, and know they aren't going to be exonerated. Do the only other thing, resign. If you think you can explain the 90K in the freezer in terms beyond "cold cash" then fine. But do it as a private citizen, not a representative of the most corrupt club in this country. jeez
Posted by oldtree at June 4, 2007 03:56 PMHe is corrupt, and for his lawyer to say he "was inticed" in a sting operation is ludicrous. I guess someone planted the 90,000.00 in his freezer too. Scumbags are scumbags whether Democrats or Republicans.
Posted by Judith at June 4, 2007 04:11 PMOne has to wonder what dirt Jefferson has on others in the Democratic Party to explain why they don't throw him overboard.
Posted by brisa at June 4, 2007 04:18 PMGood. I am a progressive, albeit s stupid one, but I don't care if he was charged with a parking ticket. Lock the bugger up! And Bush, Chwhey, Rumsfeld, and all of PNAC for life.
Posted by tempus at June 4, 2007 04:24 PMWhoop's, I've discovered that blogging and good French Merlot do not mix. Sorry to the right-wing retards, particularly scout, who I may have offended.
Posted by tempus at June 4, 2007 04:37 PMTempus, actually a French Merlot and blogging could be quite interesting, although I have often wondered if that is what did Scout in.
Posted by Judith at June 4, 2007 04:44 PMOT:
For anyone who is a Michael Moore fan, he will be on the Oprah Winfrey Show tomorrow. Should be interesting because you know he will talk about the Government trying to shut him up and shut him down.
Posted by Judith at June 4, 2007 04:55 PMJudith, naw, just crawl into bed, and pray you wake up in the morning!

My thoughts precisely, Swoosh.
Tomorrow, the Republicans will try to equate what Rep. Jefferson did to what Scooter Libby did, but we all know that there's a major difference between the two: Rep. Jefferson was indicted for graft, while Scooter Libby was tried and convicted of lying and obstructing justice following a major national security breach, perpetrated by top officials in the Bush administration, including Libby, that in a time of war, would necessitate the death penalty.
Does anyone want to bet that if Rep. Jefferson is tried and convicted that he will spend more time behind bars than Scooter Libby ever will? No takers, huh?
I understand. Even though what Scooter Libby did, along with his fellow Republican co-conspirators at the top levels of the Bush administration, is a much more serious crime than what Rep. Jefferson is accused of doing, Scooter Libby will probably serve little time at all, if any.
The neo-con Republicans have perverted our system of government. They've perverted our Constitution. And they've perverted our judicial system. Which, of course, makes them a bunch of perverts.
Posted by The Oracle at June 5, 2007 12:47 AMEverybody keeps complaining that the House Democratic leadership should throw Jefferson off the ship. I would like to know how one could do that, without a conviction. The leadership would need to explain to the voters in Jefferson's district (who reelected this guy despite knowledge that he was in trouble) why they get to throw him out - before he's found guilty. That's a tough road to go down. Ditto for removing him from any committees, because that is how the House works. Just an indictment won't cut it, because any competent prosecutor can obtain an indictment on virtually anything.

"Now, Hoooooold on thar..!!"
A)I thought Rep. Jefferson "FOUND" that money on the street in the Green Zone during a little publicized trip to Iraq?
B)As a member of the CBC he was promoting Equal Opportunity. Why should only Republicans get, uh, overtime pay?
C) It's a mistake, he was doing a commercial for Sears Kenmore freezers. You know, "Save Cold Cash if you buy a Kenmore before July 4th". It was a prop.
D)Hey, at least he wasn't caught on tape buyin' crack. That's progress..Isn't it?
E) It was a dividend collected for this months CIA/Contra cocaine cabal in N.O.,LA. Chavez? Are you listening..on your only liberal media outlet?
F) He diverted 3 years worth of revenue from Air America in a diabolical ATM/computer scam.
G) He took up a collecton for Rush's Oxy, uh, vitamins, uh, E.D., uh restless leg, uh, well, you know..!!
H)Golf winnings vs. Jack's gang. Seriously, Tom DeLay is a 20 handicapper who can't say not to a bet.
I) Went "all-in" at the African Dictator's Starving Their People Poker World Series, and won..sorta!!
J,for Jail) "Found it floating in Katrina floodwaters"
