He possibly does report to god -as apparently do the Democrats...if God is Bandar Bush with a suitcase full of money.
Posted by phidipides at July 2, 2007 09:20 AMYeah, some people don't know what the hell they're talking about ^^ and deserve not to be listened to or read. Like that nameless voice in DumBush's head.

Very entertaining.
Posted by at July 2, 2007 09:24 AM"resolute, serene, and at peace with himself."
That could also be the description of a person about to jump off a ledge.
The Post story, which I've only seen exerpts from, seems to describe a person who doesn't really care much about doing anything. Reading books?? Who doesn't? Too bad he didn't pay more attention to reading the President's Daily Briefing in August of 2001. Far from painting a picture of a resolute leader in difficult times, this Post story seems to paint a picture of a dullard more concerned with riding mountain bikes and exercising than governing a nation. Daydreaming about being a great leader won't get it done.
Posted by T2 at July 2, 2007 09:33 AMI think it merits being removed from office. By whatever legal, constitutional means necessary. Now.
Posted by via at July 2, 2007 10:05 AMIn the WaPo article it stated:
...said Irwin M. Stelzer, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute who was part of one group of scholars who met with Bush. "This is either extraordinary self-confidence or out of touch with reality. I can't tell you which."
I can tell you which, and self-confidence has nothing to do with it.
Posted by Brian Bell at July 2, 2007 10:05 AMI found that whole article very oddly revealing and very strange....but maybe the friendly editors are going for the sympathy vote.
To say the Junyah has some serious issues after reading that is an understatement. I'm no psychologist but his bizarre behavior (how bout that part where he asked the soldier to show him his injured/disfigured eye and then he asked if he could touch it..sorry but the man ain't right in the head)yup combine that fascination with his carefree relaxed upbeat demeanor despite his alleged acknowledgement that he is hated and unpopular worldwide just doesn't make any sense ...period. It's either serious mental illness/delusions, alcohol/ drugs, dementia, or some dangerous combination of any/all of the previous. He needs an intervention..Get the man some help.
Posted by emal at July 2, 2007 11:05 AMAfter the '04 debacle and the Chimperor's "re"-election, the ties started unraveling pretty quickly between the
a) neo-con war pornographers and their designs on taking over the Middle East for [fill in the glory],
(b) the religious theofascist whackjobs (esp. Judeo-Christian) riding the post 9/11 train to glory (and exploiting each other) respectively using the parts of the bible they like as an excuse to operate extra-judicially, for material power and land grabs, and
(c) the corporate robber barons like Cheney. They've already set up their ringside seats with HQs in Dubai to start raking in new profits from the fresh chaos and impending slaughter earmarked for Iran.
At the center of all this is Chimpy, whose small restistances to all of the above (at first) had the overriding theme of writing his personal page in the history books -- as if he did anything "great". It was as if he was acting on an unspoken agreement with the factions using him as a figurehead that the last admin he did their work, but this one was "his" to carve his place in history. Apparently no one told the doofus that the great men and women of history didn't spend most of their time on vacation or fundraising or explaining political concepts as if reading aloud from My Pet Goat. For Chrissakes the idiot can't string four words together coherently or form an idea more complex than what someone just whispered in his ear sixty seconds ago and he forgot where he heard it.
His most arresting quality is the shimmer he gives off as those looking at him wonder whether he's more stupid than vain or vice versa. (Of course, testosterone worshippers like Tweety, giggling high off sniffing hard the codpiece, mistake dumfuck repetition for manly "resolve" but they have their own psycho shit to work out.)
No matter how often Chimpy tells himself (or us) that history will judge him, he sounds like King Cletus Q Dumbass from Dumbfuck USA because there's no self-examination or questions about his world, his times, and others. History already has judged him: he sounded like a shallow blithering idiot last week, last month, last year, last century. The elective war for his manhood would be a joke if it weren't such a goddamn tragic needless crime against humanity.

King Cletus Q Dumbass from Dumbfuck USA ...great and accurate description of Junyah.
Posted by emal at July 2, 2007 11:31 AMDid he learn anything from the book about the Algerian war of independence? Like maybe parallels between France's experience in Algeria and our experience in Iraq? See also: The Battle of Algiers movie.
Posted by croatoan at July 2, 2007 12:48 PMReadin' books about Winnie ('specially the pitcher sections!), talkin' to history perfessers over lunch about the "english speakin' peoples" (Nero's question: "Does this include Muricans?"), "philosophical" discussions 'bout good n' evil(doers) with religious folks, all with a Global War on Terra supposedly to "fight"---my, my, my where does our remarkable Nero jr find the time? Hard work, hard work.....
Guess there's plenty 'o time for reflectin', serenity and legacy dreamin' when you long ago handed the presidency over to the "Vice" president, eh?
Ellie, great writing.
