Why did Gordon type a story that looks like it could have been written by the office of the vice-president? Because it probably WAS written by the office of the vice-president.

Lotsa people want another war. All options are on the table, dontcha know?
Won't be their fat in the fire, so they can be all statesmanlike and brave.
Besides, it's good for business; sustains demand or some damn thing.
We haven't wrecked our navy and air force yet. Should be a milk run.
Posted by Pvt. Keepout at July 2, 2007 11:06 AMyes, Keepout, and on top of it all comes the Breaking News that Bush has ordered every known ship in the US Navy to permanently station themselves in the Gulf of Oman.
Posted by T2 at July 2, 2007 11:18 AMWhy did Pravda allow Judith Miller to turn over her column to Donald Rumsfeld and the Pentagon in the lead-up to the Iraq war?
People must over over the myth that the New York Times is run by northeast liberals.
Posted by Christopher at July 2, 2007 11:22 AMWould these psychopaths start a new war just to make most of the ordinary folks forget the elite, know it all psychopaths' colossally unprecedented dumbfuckery, douchebaggery and hubris in creating the goatfuck that is Iraq?
Fuck yeah.
Can't have a handful of privileged chickenhawk doofuses, military strangeloves, blithering pundits chubbing on vicarious glory, sweaty billionaire frat boys and corporate croneys -- given temporary keys to the treasury and arsenal -- owning up to what they did, can we?
Yippee tie-yay motherfuckahs!

Can you give us a link to any new deployments?
Posted by at July 2, 2007 12:55 PMI don't understand the psychology, but it must be like a gambler on a losing streak who figures he's got to play another hand because this time he's sure to win even though he's already shown he's the worst poker player in the known universe. It would be almost comical if we didn't know that millions of lives and the health and well-being of our own society were at stake.
Posted by Delia at July 2, 2007 02:35 PMWill this coming war finally prevent liberals from saying how they loathe the war but support the troops?
Not likely.
This is called Neo Fascist, right wing opportunism, a classic bailout for a 'left' which is afraid of really being 'left.'
No folks it wasn't Nader, it was YOU all along. Nader was a blip on the screen compared to the political and moral incoherence of all the varied strains of troop lovers. The right can be forgiven for their stupid fealty to 'the troops' as that is their bailiwick, their rasion d'ĂȘtre.
Just as in Afghanistan, Iraq and now Iran the 'good guys' were never 'the troops.' They are the people who struggle to defeat the troops. Yes, the enemy!
Let us all join the rest of the planet and hope American fascism suffers a military defeat.
But you won't say that for you are afraid of the opprobrium of fascism and you are fearful of being marginalized.
Hilary all the way!!
Posted by Jill Bains at July 2, 2007 04:15 PMthese guys won't be satisifed until they've started a thermonuclear war - their ultimate in 'creative destruction'.
these bushivites are necrophiliacs, lovers of death.
the Devil take them all.
Posted by michael72 at July 2, 2007 06:44 PMScooter Libby's receipt of Presidential commutation of sentence is going to get brushed away by hostilities with Iran. It may be the only thing big enough to quell the outrage and piggy-back on the Brit's heightened alerts over the bombings there. Advertising "links" between Hezbollah and Iran will also open the door for Israel. It's almost as though the stars are aligning for the NeoCons again.

This is your great idea? First you say it's ok for Conservatives to love the war because that's their thing, right? They're just all naturally chickenhawks so let them have their free range fun. We on the other hand hate the war but we don't hate the troops sufficciently for you?
Ok, so now I hate the troops too. How did that change things? It didn't. Not a bit. That's some plan you have to just sit and watch, right? Oh, and hate...our brothers and sisters. Oh yeah and hope they get killed. Again not much for you to do. Oh, yeah and Hope for militairy defeat. Yeah, about that, there's no need to hope for that. That's in progress. There is no winning an occupation. There are successful occupations and Chaos. Guess which one Chimpy created? A successfull occuppation also means leaving and we ain't. Staying in Iraq endlessly, paying in blood and money and the good will of the rest of the world, THAT IS DEFEAT. That's what you want? Congratulations.
George Bush gave you what your asking for.
Now how has that helped anyone? He's lining up for the next disaster.
We need to get out of IRAQ and PREVENT the same or worse happening in IRAN and whatever country the "pardoner" next decides is evil. The men and women Bush has stranded in Iraq are not deserving of our hatered. The men that sent them, ARE.
