Comments: Big Brother Wins: You Have Already Been Bugged

Oh, yes, I've known about this for a while. And you know the On Star system for cars? Can be easily bugged as well.

I got a Razr few months ago, but then the boyfriend explained they are the least secure and easiest to bug. But, if you take the battery out, they can't listen in. Words of wisdom for Tony Soprano and friends.

This is not all. Micro wave ovens now have built in microphones-models manufactured in the last two years that is. Profilers have determined ( don't ask me how) that terrorists are more likely to plot attacks while they are cooking, thus, agents listen in in the kitchen. The microphone is activated only if you are using power setting 7 through 10. If you simply defrost and cook your meals elsewhere, you should be fine.

Good idea there! Take the battery out. Makes the phone much more usable and secure.

Beam me up Scottie !! Or was that Dr Spock?

Jeez. Well one thing for sure, who ever is listening is getting an ear full. Millions of Americans are talking right now about how much they hate this Administration and Bush and Cheney.

"In Soviet Russia, cellphone talks to you!"

Somehow, we have to get across the point that we must keep a culture where Paul Revere could organize, Thomas Paine could print, and we could throw a Boston Tea Party. In this age of angry people, how can we do this? I believe the key word is angry. We must suffer the individuals, but we must not have angry cultures.

SO, who want to be the first to sell microphone covers that deafen the microphones on mobiles? They will have to be physically removed before you can talk of course. Hmm could be a great market.

Goodness, we must be only a hop, skip, and a jump away from listening in to the campaign plans of opponents.

And do you suppose any info not related to terrorism can be used against you in a criminal or civil trial?

Huh. And I thought Bagley had been banned. Time for some disemvoweling again?

Lemme try to explain the taking the battery out of the Razr concept. I'll type slowly to help the disabled. If you are having a discussion, you know, like at a business lunch, and you are concerned that someone might want to hear your discussion enough that they would bug your phone.....take the battery out. Kinda like how Bush doesn't email, you know, because they don't want any evidence to surface later.

"And do you suppose any info not related to terrorism can be used against you in a criminal or civil trial?"

Silly, stopping terrorism isn't the point of bugging cell phones.

"Silly, stopping terrorism isn't the point of bugging cell phones."

Yes it is Ann. You know that we have to fight those terrorists for the "Homeland." I've nothing to hide, so spying on me is no problem (except those nights I have succumbed to rage against this Government).

anyone who thinks that they are not subject to constant surveillance, given today's technology and the will of the governmental agents to use it, is deluded. I'm not saying everyone is under constant surveillance at this second, but the technology is there to be used. Anyone posting on web sites like this one probably already has an active dossier somewhere.

Naw, Annie says Dr Spock.

-(Ann)

The point of bugging cell phones is that it can be done.

And everything else follows that.

I'm sure our government finds it fascinating that I order vegetarian pizza, subscribe to The New Yorker and The Nation, order Birkenstocks from zappos.com, and always select an aisle seat when I fly. At least I get no junk mail from the RNC.

Ann,

Technology, especially a baleful American technology, is of a lethal fatality and as such, is merely another expression of the lethality of America itself.

America is good at death.

Metaphorically and literally.

The next advancement in the bugged cell phone is that it will allow you to be killed remotely.

A killer drone of a cell phone.

Like the killer drones now infesting the skies of Iraq and god knows where else.

America is death.

Literally.

ann, of course you're on all the lists. Birks are the Devil's footwear!

Posted by iamcoyote at July 19, 2007 10:31 AM

This has been widely known for at least a decade. For example, you cannot take a cellphone into any number of secure government offices and facilities for this reason. What is surprising is that software hasn't been marketed that would allow you to debug your phone. It would be interesting to know whether anyone has tried to block the development or marketing of such anti-spyware.

It would have been nice to know if the bug works when the phone is turned off.

And do I lose minutes and battery life. Losing battery life would be a clue that something is going on.

President Cheney, can you hear me now? Listen good, you....

Yes, it does.

Posted by ann at July 19, 2007 02:12 PM

I started to take the battery out of my phone a month ago and feeler safer now.

Also my phone bill went down considerably.

Save money-be secure. How sweet !!
