"Since I have never been one to quit, I decided that the best course of action was to remain here and fix the problems."
...it seems Gonzo is a bit of a "decider" himself.
That's what comes of hanging out with the wrong crowd.
I'm thinking Reid and Pelosi shouldn't allow a recess during August, just in case ol' Cheney thinks he can do some recess appointin' while everyone's home getting an earful from their constituents.
I don't think it's just the Bushies who don't believe in the rule of law, either. Every single one of the mindless rabble and every pundit who supports this admin, don't either. The only important thing is winning; how and what they win don't matter. It's winning over all.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 23, 2007 12:11 PMGonzo could fix the department in the manner you prescribe, but an even better solution would be to resign. That will go a long way to restoring departmental credibility. And, I would agree with Mr. Comey. Appoint Mr. Fitzgerald at AG.

-It's that there is no rule of law.
And what little law there is, is only selectively 'cherry picked' by the American people or their representatives to believe as the situation permits.
Fascism has shown great prescience in acknowledging this and proceeding forthwith in extreme boldness.
Progressivism can only continue to resort to and proclaim all the old sawhorses as to how 'outraged' they are at fascist audacity, but could never challenge it from the left.
For the honest truth is that liberal progressivism holds more in common with the right and fascism than it does with a real left which it will marginalize at all costs, even risking a total triumph of the right.
Nothing is more anti American than socialism, while fascism is as home spun as a root beer float with vanilla ice cream on a hot Summer's day.
Progressivism has nothing to blame than it self for the Bushian triumphalism and the hegemony of the right.
Even if the Democratic party could hold office, given the fickleness and fascist propensities of the electorate, it would be but a brief interregnum, accomplishing little or nothing.
Both liberalism and Busian fascism are subsumed in the glories of American patriotism.
Posted by Jill Bains at July 23, 2007 01:42 PMif he leaves, he gets indicted. if any of them leave, they will get indicted. so they can't leave. Unless Hillary makes a deal with them. is there any thing wrong with this logic?
Posted by oldtree at July 23, 2007 01:56 PMcalvinthecat, I doubt Gonzo will either fix anything or resign. He's there for the duration, because to leave would mean confirmation hearings for the new guy (unless Bush tried a recess appt. again), and even if a new guy got in, they'd have to at least try to do something about all the disregarded subpoenas and contempt charges. It'd be nice to get Fitz in there, but there's no way!
