Comments: Too Much Time Left for Bush—and Democrats

I'm not sure the 10 votes you mention are there now. Maybe they will be about a year from now, but in a year everyone will be focused on Jan.22, 2009, when the Cyst will be removed forever.

I do not know why, each person may have differing reasons, but Congress will do nothing, absolutely nothing vis-a-vis Bush, Cheney, Alberto or any other member of the administration. Senator Leahy was on Countdown talking / Olberman. The good Senator said it didn't matter if the AG was lying, committing perjury b/c there was not enough time left (before Jan 09, I assume) to do anything about it.

Nixon left in the summer of '74 with 2.5 years of his presidency left, I think. That's the situation we face here, but with no prospect of impeachment.

What the psychological damage to the country will be just watching Bush and Cheney motor around in their continiung illegalities for another 1.5 years is anyone's guess. It will be substantial. Many people are coming to understand that our constitution and system of government have clearly failed. People will become frightened as more failures and disasters pile up.

Think about it: with conservative Repubs holding ANY branch of guv'mint whatever, the constitution doesn't function.

But Bush n' Cheney aren't just gonna be playin' the unwelcome embarrassing Uncles you can't get rid of. They (and Israel) are going to do everything they can to launch a US aerial attack on Iran's nuclear program before Air Force One takes off on its last trip to the Crawford pig ranch.

And they are soon going to be presiding over an economic meltdown with literally no political support whatever. I'm sure cutting taxes will be the "answer", however; it always is.

So hang on, the party's just getting started. Dems and their "plans"? They're not even on the radar screen. Maybe they'll be listening to some more Abu testimony, tryin' to "make progress" and "get it straight" this time.

The COUNTRY is going to implode, not just Bushco. We ARE Bushco, basically. Their fate is ours. Happy Days.

"created by a man who has always been sheltered from the failures he always left everywhere."

This time will be no different. The sociopath will once again escape the consequences of his sociopathic behavior.

The hero/heros of the day will be the people who shut this Occupation down as soon as possible. Cut off funding, bring the troops home, and start fresh in 2008, if that is even possible. If you want to win the next election, try being seen as heros to the American people.

Come on, restore our faith Democrats (I gagged on that one).

I am curious as to the assumption that cheney/bush will be gone by the end of January 2009. Granted, that is what the Constitution says. Or as the chimp sees it, what that GD piece of paper says. Why do you think that there will NOT be a manufactured "emergency" allowing cheney/bush to assume total power and have no further elections?

jwrjr, we have discussed that possibility many times here at TLC, however, that is an unknown. In-the-meantime, we have to look forward to 2008 elections.

I agree, if Reid and Pelosi allow Congress to be adjourned, then we have lost our country.
It is time to remind them that they must stay in session to fix this mess.

Our Democratic DC political leadership and intelligentsia are still clueless that the remedy to the constitutional crisis screaming at them in the face is to remove the Executive, give up the Iraq occupation and take the gamble that the uncertain caretaker leadership left in the White House for whatever is left of Bush’s term is the only alternative left for the country.

Meanwhile, the blog founder continues to defend handing the presidential nomination to the same clueless Democratic leadership class. I almost tsk-tsk'd the author, thinking it was Steve, but I should have known it was one of the other contributors.

I think President Cheney and whoever this Bush guy is, are the most wonderful people on Earth.

Damn, the LSD is wearing off, I'm out of Jack Daniels, and apparently I'm scheduled for a full-frontal lobotomy tomorrow. I bet that's going to hurt...

It will ... saddle our next Democratic President with a horrible burden [...]

It will also leave a historical record of tolerating the worst president of all time. Holy Jesus, the Democratic party is going to pay and pay and pay for that if events really work out that way.

You bet. As I've posted elsewhere, the "centrist" Dems have been playing this cosy little game of publicly staying above the fray while letting "unhinged" liberals do their muckwork. Then these D'aristocrats underhandedly prove their sham moderacy to the radical Republicult and court scribes by disowning the liberals -- only to be slammed worse themselves for being phonies.

What's the dilly-o anyway? Actual liberals been right 100% of the time on virtually every major issue of these two rotten admins.

I'll use my franchise wisely and with due diligence in '08. I'll even help mop up: as a registered Independent and former Dem. However, I absolutely WILL NOT accept a scintilla of blame for a debacle I never supported but, at great personal expense, resisted, exposed, fact checked, truth squadded and fought for a good ~quarter of my life.

The country isn't going to explode no matter how long you sit in the corner holding your breath. I sure am glad you're who we're campaigning against. We should win again in November and keep the WH for Giuliani.

Gore already tried to extend Bill's presidency, you will not see the same from George. He will turn it over as orderly as he received it.

I see again the worst president ever. CNN had that as being Truman when he left office. George W Bush will be proud to be considered in his company.

Now as to the worst Congress ever. Seems, we have it now. The 110th Congress IS the worst ever. Never before in our history have we had a Congress so poorly thought of. Thanks Democrats for all that leadership towards this achievement.

I also see that the Senate is going to provide funds for the boarder fence thanks to Majority Leader Reid. Seems he apologized to Sen Cornyn today and backed his wording for the bill. The bill passed 89 to 1.

There are still a few people who don't realize that by the final curtain Bush shall have betrayed everyone. Thus has it always been with such men. The worst of possible presidents has not yet plunged to his deepest pit of unpopularity. Still a ways to go before the bunker, the ignominious last days of deception, slaughter, slander, and sadism.
