Army attorneys sent each other congratulatory e-mails for keeping criminal investigators at bay....
Cover-up. I hope his parents and his wife sue the hell out of the Bush administration and the Pentagon.
Posted by Christopher at July 26, 2007 08:25 PMthe tillman matter has fascinated me since i read that his uniform was burned.
there really is no reason at all to have done this, save covering something up.
having read that,
my thought was that he had stumbled upon something that others wanted to keep hidden,
gun running by u.s soldiers?
or drug dealing?
or some sort of military/diplomatic "eccentricity", aka, black ops.
i have no idea if any of these are the case, but the amount of energy the army put into hiding the case is extraordinary.
why make an investment of that sort if the matter is simply that tillman was killed in a case of "mistaken identity", sort of ?
whenever the dept of defense goes to this length to cover something up,
and then keeps covering it up,
there really IS something the dod is worried about.
in general, the situation with tillman is similar to that with abu grahb -
little leaks and admissions cover up larger ones.
Posted by orionATL at July 26, 2007 08:59 PMThis is nauseating.
Posted by paradox at July 26, 2007 08:59 PMI don't know how far the Tillman family would get with a lawsuit. My trust in the US courts has been seriously damaged.
The Democratic leadership really ought to be relentless on this one. There may be legal immunities and defenses, but in the court of public opinion, there is no defense for this.
Posted by James E. Powell at July 26, 2007 09:06 PMI thought that Bush's poodles had something to do with this? Wasn't there a release of info about this just a few months ago?
so 3 shots in his head from an M16 at 10 yards. sounds like more than one person shooting, as the climb rate of a burst isn't likely to allow 3 hits in that small a pattern. I am not an expert and .223 isn't the most violent recoil, but this stinks of a hit
It shouldn't take long for the right wing zealots to begin the character assassination of Mr. Tillman. Yes, they are that despicable.
Exactly soccerdad!
Have to character assassinate someone when the White House is citing executive priviledge on documents related to his death.
Fucking sickening!
These demonic wingnut motherfuckers hate, and kill, everything which is truly heroic.
They are the spawn of Satan.
RIP, Pat Tillman. The world is a far lesser place without you, brother.
Posted by God Of War at July 26, 2007 09:54 PMPatrick Tillman said, "You know, this war is so fucking illegal." His words were like a sword in Bush's heart. I'm not surprised they had to silence him. That's the way these neocons work.
Posted by Christopher at July 27, 2007 04:30 AMYep, Christopher. Couldn't have a celebrity who is actually there say this war is so fucking wrong. Better to kill him outright. Executive privilege says it all, doesn't it?
Posted by Sharon at July 27, 2007 07:26 AMIf I was a General about to be censured, I'd be really pissed that the White House is keeping documents secret that could shed light on who else is guilty. Rummy, turdblossom, cheney...oh fuck it, the usual suspects!!
Posted by Seven of Six at July 27, 2007 07:49 AMSeven, this smacks of CIA or special op's. But the three round burst is standard, as you know, so it may have been a gigantic fuck-up. But I don't think so.
In Vietnam, it would be called a "fragging", though Mr. Tillman seems to be the victim of a psychotic administration, rather than a pissed off platoon.

Your right, the three round burst is standard.
But these guys are fucking Rangers, hard core, train, live, breathe and die for this shit. I find it hard to believe anyone was scared. I go with the gigantic fuck-up scenario.
Starts with not leaving that fucking dead vechicle where it lays and coming back for it later (or the next day). Then splitting a small unit in half.
It's your basic military fuck up, I've seen it a dozen times.
Another part of the problem was that Tillman was smarter than most his officer's and he had to take orders from the dumb shits.
I'd have to rule out intentional "fragging", unless it was special ops mission, then it be an assasination. That's far fetched.
Posted by Seven of Six at July 27, 2007 08:39 AMSeven, I don't know how far-fetched it would be. Remember who (or what) is in the WH, and I don't mean that idiot pseudo-Texan.

You're not refering to the man who shot his best friend in the face....and then got the old dude to apologize for it, are you?
Posted by Sharon at July 27, 2007 02:16 PMSharon, I have no idea what SOB fat, heartless and brain damaged person you might be referring to. Executive privilege, don't you know...
