Comments: Summarizing the Mortgage Meltdown

So tell me soccerdad, how are you going to raise taxes for all these news programs Democrats want if this is true? Where are the funds going to come from for the HillaryCare she's going to push on us? How about the Medicaid problems still out there as well as that little Social Security problem? How about all those 401K and pension plans invested in the markets? People are counting on those since SS wont be there for the boomers. Where's the student loan relief Ms. Pelosi promised in January. The House did their thing. Why wont Reid get it done? Where's all this money going to come from soccerdad?

Wasn't John Corzine the head guy at Goldman-Sachs? Did he know about this?

peter,
LOL. When the GOP is advocating spending 12-14 billion dollars per month in Iraq, those arguments ring very hollow. That's why everyone laughs at you guys when you talk about money. You were never concerned about the cost of anything before were you? You rubberstamped the most wasteful things in our nations history. You have no credibility.

PS. Using the phrase "hillarycare" just shows how attached you are to the GOP crack pipe!

Oh, and how are those pathetic pygmies doing?

Nice try, but you did not answer Peter's questions.

Can you?

Posted by jj at August 2, 2007 06:43 PM

Peter and jj, The DoD has to have theirs, right? What about the infrastructure of the USA? Why do you hate America...peter and jj?

Posted by Seven of Six at August 2, 2007 07:19 PM

We are spending billions there so we don't have to spend billions here.

The government spends 2 billion a year on our bridges and 2 billion a week on Iraq.

B.O. the “civil engineer” on the factor tonight explaining his theory on the bridge collapse: Well, you know half the people drive these heavy SUVs now, and these bridges weren’t designed for them.

No, Bill, they were designed for 1967 Buicks and Caddys. Ever try to lift a deuce and a quarter?

Posted by TIKI AL at August 2, 2007 07:43 PM

...a deuce and a quarter?

My first foray into car driverhood. 430, seats like a sofa, wickedly fast for something the size a a small vacation home. It was mine, all mine, to use as I please!

So tell me soccerdad, how are you going to raise taxes

I dunno how soccerdad would do it. I would end the $1.1 trillion in corporate welfare this year for a start. Then, since we are at war, the upper 5% would get to pay what they did during WWII, a 91% tax rate. Then I would levy SS tax on every nickle earned.

So, how is it that jj can talk without you moving your lips and why do you have your hand in his ass?

Posted by phidipides at August 2, 2007 08:47 PM

There should be a flat tax of 90% for everyone. That way everything would be free and none of us would have to work anymore.

infrastructure of the USA?

Does that include refineries?

Posted by at August 3, 2007 04:28 AM

You can blame Alan Greenspan for the mortgage mess. He didn't get the name Easy Al for nothing. When the Fed put all this money in circulation someting like this was sure to happen.

Posted by JohnT at August 3, 2007 06:04 AM

Clinton eliminated taxes on real estate gains. That's what started the greed and speculation. The money goes where there are less taxes to be paid.

No more corporate tax breaks.

An additional tax bracket (at 45%) for those who make more than $250K per year.

No more caps on SocSec (only the first $100K or so is counted for SocSec payments). Means testing for SocSec, so if you make more than $100K while eligible for SocSec, you don't get any.

Reduce congressional and executive pensions so that they can pay out no more than $75K per year per person in retirement benefits. Deny pensions to anyone convicted of illegal activities when they were in congress.

Now tell me peter, how are Republican'ts going to pay for all the extra money they've added to the national debt? How are they going to pay for all of the infrastructure maintenance they haven't done because they had to give tax breaks to corporations and the rich? How are they going to pay for the extra debt and human cost of the Iraq war?

Smarter ditto monkeys, please...

Won't make a dent-now where will you get the money?

Posted by at August 3, 2007 08:22 AM

Does that include refineries?

Only after they are Nationalized!

Won't make a dent-now where will you get the money?

Huh, the DoD budget fool! You know, the money being spent on that money pit called Iraq!
Any more questions where the money will come from?

Over half of the homes flipped during the frenzy were by wealthy pros. However, alot of actual people got caught standing up when the music stopped.

Phid: The Smithsonian bound mighty Buick 225 also doubled as a luxury motel and when you filled it up with 100 octane ethyl(oozing with lead) at 19.9 a gallon you got the oil and water checked, the windshield cleaned, a box of Kleenix(handy for the back seat), and a glass with a purple martin on it!

That is spit in the bucket compared to your "needs".

Again, Where will you get the money?

Posted by jj at August 3, 2007 02:01 PM

One word: ENRON.

It took more than the crooks at Enron to create that fantasy. Without the crooks on Wall St. and in leading finanacial institutions, Enron would have remained a piss ant in the energy industry and when it blew up, few would have noticed. The Enron folks may be history but all the others remained in place and doing very well, thank you for the past few years.
