A missed item on this Sunday morning roundup:

When We Leave Iraq Is “Semantics”

That’s just one of the boneheaded things that Markos Moulitsas said in his appearance alongside Harold Ford, Jr. on Meet the Press. I don’t have the transcript but here’s a close paraphrase of what he said:

Whether we leave Iraq in 3 months, in 6 months or a year, it’s just a matter of semantics.

David Gregory, sitting in for Tim Russert, didn’t let that go, asking him how he could say that it’s just a matter of semantics. That led to another Moulitsas misstep. In explaining his statement, he said that, as a former military logistics man, he knew that they couldn’t leave immediately.

Yet he campaigned to leave immediately. What a guy, he doesn't seem to care how long or how many of our GI's get killed. It's just "semantics" that's all. Go look at Meet the Press Judith. Listen to this founder of the DailyKos talk.

After reading some of Greenwalds interview, I just have to wonder what would possess O'Scamlon to basically undermine everything he wrote in his editorial? Didn't really write it? Doesn't speak actual English? Too full of it to think anybody bothers to pay attention, just so long as they pay him?

Actually, Gregory was the one who failed to understand the point, something we expect of peter, but wish that reporters wouldn't do. That is actually exactly what it is, semantics. The semantics of a policy implementation argument, not the validity of the issue.

A poll that wants to know which is better, 6 months or 2 years or 1 week, is still founded on the fact that getting out is no longer an issue. Now it has moved past that decision to the mechanics and political smokescreen to accomplish that policy objective.

You might want to actually read what Kos has posted on that, as well as read the names of the various posts from the front pagers there, troll, I think, getting out as soon as possible is closer to the mark.

"Two things happened in 2006: we forced people to pick sides (by giving them a choice, imagine that!), and they overwhelmingly sides with us, the Democrats. But not just Democratic voters, which we grew (especially among young voters), but also independents.

We’re proud Democrats, confident and secure in the belief that we’re on the right side of history and Americans will side with us if we can only get our message out.

The DLC thinks this is a conservative country and we can only win if we blur distinctions with the GOP.

And there it is, in a nutshell."Moulitsas

These people who voted for Democrats got what they voted for in this Democratic controlled Congress. That's the message in a nutshell. They wanted Sen. Webb to cast his votes as he did. They wanted Rep. Shuler to cast his votes the way he did. They wanted Sen. Amy Klobuchar to vote for the FISA bill which would provide the Bush Administration carte blanche to wiretap. The people are getting what they votes for. This is the will of the people. Moulitsas doesn't care about the people. He wants to drive policy and influence, His. If you offend him you will be punished.

Didn't you hear the latest peter? The Dems gave bu$h FISA, but he gave us Turdblossom's retirement!
