Only in the world of the bizarre would Gonzo's power be expanded.

Gonzales could get say in states' executions
Proposed rules would let the attorney general sign off on 'fast tracking' death penalty appeals.

The Justice Department is putting the final touches on regulations that could give Atty. Gen. Alberto R. Gonzales important new sway over death penalty cases in California and other states, including the power to shorten the time that death row inmates have to appeal convictions to federal courts.

The rules implement a little-noticed provision in last year's reauthorization of the Patriot Act that gives the attorney general the power to decide whether individual states are providing adequate counsel for defendants in death penalty cases. The authority has been held by federal judges.

My Niece works for a firm in California that is involved in green building projects. Until recently, I had never heard of building green. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach by recognizing performance in areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. I believe that there are tax breaks for building green also. Regardless, it is good to see a movement towards building green.

Dennis Kucinich disappeared.

The Gray Lady Magic Show? Or is it selective censorship? Whatever the hell it is, it aint funny.

"It makes you wonder why we bother with this whole primary process... except that without them, how would corporate interests get a chance to pour money into campaigns and buy the eventual presidents and members of Congress."

The Gray Lady Magic Show?

Hillary is the best candidate the MSM will let you vote for. My goodness, she even accepts money from Newscorp (FAUX News). It's not that the Democracy is for sale. It's already been bought, and we will never break the deals they made until the country is in ruins.

And Edwards takes money from Newscorp for a itty-bitty trash coffee book table, takes a huge write-off and expense account, uses MYSPACE, probably took his kids to see "Little Miss Sunshine"....he must be adding to the Murdoch coffers....

Like it or not...I am against FOX news and most of its reports but can remain neutral about other Newscorp companies....and its employees. And IK wish somebody else had taken WSJ but nobody could come up with a deal....

I'll start to worry Murdoch hands him a check. Now, who did get handed a check?

You do make a very valid point that with only 5 media companies in America it would be tough to do anything without using one of their services. We can thank Democrats for that little fact of life also.

Maybe New College's gurus will Esalenize us into a transformative KQED experience, where we can commune with Dwyer, Orman, Lonnie Frisbee, in the rebirth of the Summer of Love? Or is that CIIS's gig? And to think Herb Caen once thought Mill Valley residents were the "land of fruit and nuts." Peacock feathers, fetishes, hashish, analysts, gurus, and transcendental yogi masters getting high without Mt. Tam. Must be a new cosmic consciousness for the New Age. Bring your crystal. Your panpsyches. Damaged egos. And environmental waste in order to play "let's pretend it's not us."

The Gay Species, "Herb Caen." Now there's a name from the past when life was so different.
