There are many unaswered questions.
His figerprints are on a blank application for Al Qaeda? So Al Qaeda needs an application first...maybe for references? Maybe insurance benefits? Pretty suspicious.
He was a "dirty bomber" yet no evidence showed that he was?
The torture aspect is the heinous part of the story. Too bad Congress doesn't use a little on Rove to get to the bottom of Attorneygate.
Posted by phidipides at August 16, 2007 01:57 PMyeah Phidip.. can you fill out one of their apps online? Do you have to speak Farsi or whatever, or is it in english or spanish? Do you have to check a box saying you won't look a nasty photos on the internet while at the dirty bomb factory? What a hoax trial. Pure 100% Bush b.s.
Posted by T2 at August 16, 2007 02:09 PMI thought he was found guilty on only one count according to NBC.
Posted by Judith at August 16, 2007 04:22 PMHey!......see that in the rearview mirror?
Yeah, they used to be called human rights.
Posted by Parallax at August 16, 2007 04:30 PMJose Padilla is to terrorism what Martha Stewart was to white collar crime.
He carried out exactly what part of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on this nation? Oh yeah, no part.
So much easier for the Bush junta to go after Jose Padilla than it is to apprehend Osama bin Laden. Next?
Posted by Christopher at August 16, 2007 04:30 PMConsidering that jury selection reportedly was quite difficult as many of the potential jurors admitted under questioning that they simply did not trust the government, the verdict should be no surprise.
This group of twelve were made up of people who have drunk the Kool-Aid and were likely biased in favor of the prosecution.
Calling Captain Kangaroo....your courtroom is ready.
Posted by brisa at August 16, 2007 04:36 PMI don't see this as evidence of anything other than what I've known for years, and its something everybody who has ever had the displeasure of serving on one already knows: juries are STUPID.
Posted by Brian Bell at August 16, 2007 04:55 PMAshcroft's announcement that the Dangerous Dirty Bomber Padilla had been heroically seized came fast on the heels of Coleen Rowley's devastating congressional testimony re her FBI field office higher-ups and their flat refusal to follow obvious leads (e.g. Moussaoui) prior to 9/11.
Padilla had actually been arrested a month earlier. Clearly they nabbed him and and kept it on ice till they needed a media event, whilst concocting a Very Scary Narrative for the rubes. e.g The Washington Post, whose stenography was dutifully extensive and breathless. (I think it took until about paragraph 89 of their account to note that any actual evidence was, well, only slightly thinner than Twiggy on meth.) The stupefying fraudulence of this case from the beginning has been exceeded only by the gratuitous, unspeakable sadism visited on this individual by Cheneybush, and I have no doubt it came directly from the top.
We are all frogs now, and the sick little boys with firecrackers are deputizing their like-minded friends to hunt and destroy us. They've taught the media to either cheer it or laugh.

http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/paperchase/2007/06/padilla-jury-hears-co-defendant-wiretap.php
Just a snip.....or two....
"...the jurors heard FBI wiretapped conversations recorded shortly after the video originally aired in which defendants Adham Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi [GlobalSecurity profiles] praised bin Laden."
"...Padilla and co-defendants Hassoun and Jayyousi are charged [JURIST report] with being a part of an Islamic fundamentalist terrorist support network and conspiring to murder US nationals."
Read this:
ISLAMIC. FUNDAMENTALIST.
Hang him.
P.S.
"He carried out exactly what part of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on this nation?"
He was never charged with complicity in the terrorist actions of 9/11.
Try again. Next!!!!!

What the hell are you talking about bag-bot? You are rambling like a deranged republi-con who doesn't have the facts...you know, like an uniquisitive person who has his buttons pushed by catch phrases and the like because they don't bother to read and get all their news from FAUX and republi-con fucktard blogs...
Never mind. Tell us what you think about Hispanics and illegal immigrants. Rove is gone, so you guys can share your personal feelings.
Posted by phidipides at August 16, 2007 07:40 PMWhen will the trial of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney begin? They should be dragged before the Hague and charged with war crime and crimes against humanity.
Posted by Christopher at August 16, 2007 07:57 PMThey should be charged with the gross assault of Barbie Dolls...
Posted by tempus at August 17, 2007 06:38 AM"...This is the type of government that George Bush rules. And that at least 1 in 4 Americans demands.
Fixed it for ya, Mary! ;-(
