Comments: Hillary Knocked Around, Still On Top

No matter what she meant, it was a stupid thing to say. She's not ready for prime time.

Nevertheless, she's got the RNC's endorsement for Democratic nominee for president. Together with the DLC's support, she's a shoo-in for the nomination.

The Republications have so much oppo research on her by now, that they plan to build a Non-Presidential library for it after 2008. President-apparent Giuliani has already promised he'd find Federal funding.

While I'm certain that the RoveGOP has tons of dirt to throw on Hillary, their problem is that they, too, have to field a candidate. So far their best guys are a three time married, mob implicated braggart, an ex-lobbyist and known womanizer who is lazy, and a Mormon air-head.

Hillary is now being favorably quoted by the conservative noise machine on cable MSM. I don't listen to Limbaugh but I wouldn't be surprised if even he is giving her props.

She's quickly positioning herself to knock Joe Lieberman off his pedestal as Bush's favorite Democrat.

Good post, Jeff. Facts are important, eh?

Edwards, in simultaneously agreeing with Clinton's Al Anbar Province statement while also attacking her proves, once again, that he's the master of hypocrisy.

Mrs. Obama's statement is only the latest out of the Obama camp that utilizes the Rovian approach to politics. The other is Obama himself adopting the Hillary as unelectable polarizing uber-bitch.

One interpretation of Mrs. Obama's comments is that she thinks that Hillary is unfit for the White House because she couldn't keep Bill from straying.

The danger here for the Obama's is that blaming the victim is not necessarily the best way to win the female vote, in my opinion.

No matter what she meant, it was a stupid thing to say. She's not ready for prime time.

Stupid? But what she was talking about is what many here have advocated, focusing our forces efforts on Al Anbar province instead of getting tied up policing a civil war in Baghdad. And not ready for prime time? Ghawwww!

Thanks, Jeff, for the update. It's bad enough that those with Hillary Derangement Syndrome find fault with every breath she takes without our favorite bloggers falling for the oldest trick in the book - the Incredible Lying Lede. Prolly best to remember: if the headline seems outrageous, it's most likely not true.

Noted, Coyote, thanks. I admit it, I was duped. I deserve a thousand lashes. Or Hillary to kick my ass. Whichever.

Posted by Jeff Dinelli at August 22, 2007 01:27 PM

Nah, Jeff, no 1000 lashes, unless you're into that kinda stuff - not that there's anything wrong with it. :O)

We've gotta be prepared, though, 'cos as these next months go on, we're gonna see a lot of it. And you know, I'll bet Hillary doesn't mind - she's been in the news every single day, crowding everyone else out.

"Levin's Silliness

by Steve Soto
This is what passes for Democratic leadership these days in the Senate. Armed Forces Committee chairman Carl Levin returns from a trip to Baghdad with John Warner, and says that the Iraqis need to dump the al-Maliki government in the next several days, or … or what? Levin says that he has no idea what a different prime minister could achieve or how effective a new prime minister would be if he came into power at the direction of the Americans. But that didn’t stop Levin from spewing this nonsense anyway."

Now HC's is saying the same thing! Regrets?

I listened to Mrs. Obama's statement in its entirety several times now and I don't think she was talking about Hillary at all.

This was a typical MSM attempt to start a controversy over nothing. They suck.

"But they kept their marriage together. And a lot of the Republicans who have condemned them and talk about their platform of family values, interestingly, didn’t keep their own families together."

-- Mike Huckabee, quoted by NPR, praising Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Just for grins...

Hillary isn't shy about attacking policies but I have never heard her attack any of the Democratic presidential candidates on personal matters.

If Mrs. Obama wasn't referring to Senator Clinton, she should come out and say so. When I read her remarks, I didn't think she was crossing the line by denigrating the Clintons, but her silence makes me wonder.

We still haven't learned to take reporting with a grain of salt. It's the job of reporters to scare up stories and, when they find one, they're apt to embellish mundane facts with sensational fiction.

The Obamas HAVE come out and said they were not taking a shot at Hillary.

This "controversy" has its roots on...surprise, surprise, the Drudge Report.

Posted by TIKI AL at August 22, 2007 03:46 PM

"Michelle Obama's cheap shot against Hillary".
It didn't happen. It is an invention of the Chicago Sun-Times reporter and conservative Drudge.
The quote in it's entirety makes that clear. Media Matters has been on top of this. Once the right-wing charge was made, MSM repeated it with no effort whatsoever to fact check. It is total fabrication.
The Chicago Sun-Times has made up stuff like this about Democrats before. They are not credible journalists.
