Comments: John Edwards On Cancer

Lance was on Russert yesterday and was great. He had an amazing command of the facts regarding the impact of Cancer and lack of funding. He told it like it is, a refreshing change from the "scared to take a position" politicos. Listening to him one could only wish that we had a president so dedicated, well-spoken and focused. Lance Armstrong is a Leader. I sure wish we had some more like him.

according to LA, Guiliani and McOld (both cancer victims) won't be there an apparently neither will Obama. Lance had some very pointed comments about the suitability of leaders who don't take the Cancer cause seriously. A note to Rudy...it will not be good to get on Lance's bad side. He holds sway with alot of people.

The list of participants is Edwards, Clinton, Kucinich, & Richardson for the Democrats, and Brownback and Huckabee for the Republicans.

I think we have a habit of not seeing Hillary as a sincere individual (which is why I use her first name nom-de-plume here), but her involvement in the forum is striking. These candidates have stuck me as the sincerest of the bunch sans Hillary. Even Brownback and Huckabee, no matter how much they scare the crap out of liberals, strike me as sincere candidates, and maybe that's why they frighten me so much. Brownback is so pro-life that if he could lay hands on people in the best Benny Hinn tradition he would; Huckabee is no less the same but with a substantial measure of New Testament populism.

Iowans are going to pay attention to this and to the absence of other candidates.

I like your blog a lot, but do me a favor: don't say "suffers from cancer". I have Nonhodgkins lymphoma for 6 years, it is a disease, no different than arthritis, heart problems or leprosy. We can live, function and write to blogs, some cancers are monsters, but some pneumonias are the same. We survive and learn valuable lessons, which can be life giving and empowering. Thanks, Norma
