I'm sure McCain will still fully support Bush anyway.
As will Wilbur Romney, Ru-Dee Guiliani and Freddy Freeper Thompson.
Posted by Christopher at September 4, 2007 05:33 PMCome on...did anyone expect to hear anything different from Bush? Bush doesn't change his mind, he views that as a weakness. This is his war and this is his sad, tragic legacy that he is leaving when he goes back to Texas. As the soldiers said recently they'll get to go home when a Democrat is elected President. We're in Iraq to stay as long as there is profiteering to be done all in the name of "fightin' terra."
Posted by ann at September 4, 2007 05:57 PMas predicted. 100 GI's a month until January, 2009. at least.
Posted by T2 at September 4, 2007 06:11 PM"We're fightin' em over thar, so we don hafta' fightin' here," - George Bush.
And NASCAR nation cheers!
Posted by Christopher at September 4, 2007 07:01 PMMeanwhile, Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho, the Republican closet queen who was was arrested in a mens restroom in June at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on suspicion of making sexual advances to an undercover police officer in the next stall and resigned in disgrace, stunned the Congress by announcing late Tuesday is may revoke his resignation!
ROFL! You can't make this shit up.
Posted by Christopher at September 4, 2007 07:42 PMAnthony Cordesman is a very serious "analyst/advisor". In his 13 page report, he states the blindingly obvious risks and difficulties, properly slamming the Cheney-directed FUBAR and admits there are no good options.
However, it doesn't take him long to describe how, "the Iraqui government" need to step up, under increased pressure, within the next Friedman Unit or we'll have to do something different!
Unless the Democratic leaders suddenly gain a sense of duty, I just don't see how we're going to avoid continuing the Cirque du Morte until the Spring, at least. Hundreds of thousands of calls, letters and personal pleas have left our leaders still cowering. Hopefully, the Craig fiasco and whatever inevitably follows it, will blunt the mighty noise machine. The trends certainly don't seem encouraging. The Republicans are still demonstrating, hopefully suicidal, discipline in the face of devastating reality. It is a bit perplexing, unless you view it in the vein of being made as part of their well demonstrated, "Family" values.

Blood for oil is the price that Bush is willing to pay into infinity.
