Cheney invaded Iraq to liberate its oil from Saddam. Simple as that. There never was any other remotely plausible explanation. A straightforward use of the imperial sturmtruppen to secure and stabilize the supply of our most crucial resource. Wasn't the first time, and sure as hell won't be the last.
Terrorism, WMDs, spreadin' democracy, the "madman", "preventative" war, "defense", all bullshit for consumption by the troops and other assorted rubes. The question is, don't you suspect that, deep down, NASCAR Nation knows this, even with not a single national leader saying it?
And given the statements to date by our fine "candidates", the gambit worked!
Posted by euzoius at September 4, 2007 07:58 PM"Bush "thinks" in lies."
Euzoius, that is the most accurate statement I have heard in a while. Well said.
Why, in a Country as large as ours, does only one voice dare to call Bush an out and out liar? Good for you Olbermann. It needed to be said, and the Democrats are too political to speak the truth.
Olbermann is indeed our Edward R. Murrow. Send emails his way.
it has always been about the oil...always..9/11 was the key handed to them for an invasion..iraq is the biggest lie ever perpetrated on mankind..once this oilman administation took office they turned a blind eye to osama bin laden..i believe it's as plain as the nose on your face
Posted by dennis at September 5, 2007 03:05 AMWhy else would Mr. Cheney refure to let us know who was invovled in developing the Energy Policy? Because it would be obvious taht the policy revolved around Iraq?
Posted by the professor at September 5, 2007 05:29 AMThe expressed reason for the Iraq War was B.S. And everyone knew it. The subsequent "reasons" given to continue it are B.S., and everyone knows that too. The handling of the "occupation" is B.S. and everyone knows that. The USA is in a huge mess of its own making in Iraq, and everyone knows that. George W. Bush is not thinking clearly and everyone knows that. Cheney is a madman, and everyone knows that. The Congress could de-fund the war, but won't, and that is B.S. and everyone knows it, and knows why they will not. Mega-Oil Corporations are making billions on the war, and that is B.S. We all know it. Bush has no plans to leave, and we know that. He never did. And we know that. The only thing I don't know, is, did 9/11 happen because Bush was a lazy idiot, or was it part of a plan to get us where we are today?
Posted by T2 at September 5, 2007 06:36 AMThe decider is keeping his promise he made at the start of his reign. He is a war president. He said if we are still at war in 2008, he would invoke his (some ancient or obscure, if some of you know, please let me know) and set aside elections until he decides he wants to leave his office, which means, PRESIDENT FOR LIFE and martial law. Hide your family. Here come da draft.
