In the coming days, I intend to work with my colleagues to find the best ways to address the many safety, security and environmental issues that remain with the program.
America will be watching, Hillary.
Posted by Christopher at September 6, 2007 08:18 PMI've been to both Hillary's website for her campaign and for the Senate. I am unable to find the text of her correspondence to Secretary Peters, and it would be most helpful to see what these concerns were and when she raised them. Don't get me wrong, I do not doubt the veracity of her statement, but I do want to know the details of her speaking up on this issue.
Having said that, I think Hillary were to become the Dem nominee, I would have no trouble voting for her. Right now, I just want to be an informed voter.
Posted by jcricket at September 6, 2007 09:23 PM“I am gravely concerned by the Bush administration’s rash decision to press forward with its plan to allow Mexican trucking companies into the country.
Blah, blah, blah, blah. They don't call her Hillary (D - Punjab) for nuthin. When you're making assloads of money from those who outsource jobs, what's a little bitchin at Mexican trucking? They'll pay-up soon enough, and she'll be quiet. I like my Senate whores quiet, and all it takes is a little campaign contribution.
Posted by phidipides at September 6, 2007 10:52 PMJeff Dinelli - Do you have a link to where you got this press statement? I, too, haven't been able to find it on either of her websites. Thanks.
Posted by Christopher at September 7, 2007 03:58 AMHmm, I googled the darn thing and found a statement from Feb. here. Looks like she was on in earlier than a lot of people.
Thanks for putting this up, Jeff - sad that it didn't become an issue until after it was a done deal.
Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2007 05:22 AMHuh. I got this last night from someone who works for the campaign, but I, too, don't see it posted yet. I'm sure it will be up today, I promise to provide a link in this thread when it is.
For now call it a Left Coaster exclusive, I guess!
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at September 7, 2007 05:41 AMFor now call it a Left Coaster exclusive, I guess!
Cool.
Posted by Christopher at September 7, 2007 05:43 AMWell, it did pop up first on the google list! And it's dated today. But it's almost the same words as the Feb one I linked to from her senate website.
Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2007 05:44 AMThe war, Hillary, the war. Israel's bullshit destroying us before our eyes, Hillary. Country finished and over and beyond bankrupt, Hillary. New war comin, Hillary.
Glad you're on that Mexican truck thing.
Oh, and we have lots of money now for healthcare. And fixing our bridges and shit.
God, fuck this country. What a fucking joke.
Posted by Sharkbabe at September 7, 2007 05:57 AMYeah, it'll be on the Senate website, it should be already but I can't find it. I'm telling ya, it's an exclusive. Actually what happened is Hillary faxed it to me last night to proofread before release and I posted it too soon.
Wow, I'm starting to make myself ill, now.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at September 7, 2007 05:59 AMCareful, Jeff, next thing you know, someone's going to accuse you of being on Hillary's payroll!
Shill! Shill!
Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2007 06:11 AMI know, coyote, but I swear I have no affiliation. Hillary just has a habit of faxing me things late at night. 8)
Let me continue from work I'm gonna be so late!
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at September 7, 2007 06:28 AMAs I said before this has been covered by Lou Dobbs for over a year. The super highway has also been covered by Dobbs and some newspapers. I wonder why it's only now becoming an issue.
Posted by JohnT at September 7, 2007 06:44 AMJohnT, probably because nothing's been done about trying to stop it all this time.
I read in the Chicago Trib this morning that the Sierra Club and Public Watch have both sued to stop the thing.
I also read that there's a poll out there showing Americans thing Roody and Hillary are the least religious of all the candidates running for Prez. Two things: 1) this is why national polls at this time mean nothing, since no one's paying attention yet, and 2) most Americans haven't read the Mother Jones piece discussed here over the weekend. Hillary not religious? Wha?

Ick. I have to learn how to post links here.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at September 7, 2007 07:15 AMJeff - it's easy - the linky code is above the comment box right here. Cut and paste the tags and follow the example!
Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2007 07:25 AMHere's that poll that shows most people don't think Hillary's religious.
Posted by Jeff Dinelli at September 7, 2007 11:55 AMCheck it out, Jeff's a linkin' foo' kids!
And who'da thunk Hillary's a godless heathen?
Posted by iamcoyote at September 7, 2007 12:05 PMCareful, Jeff, next thing you know, someone's going to accuse you of being on Hillary's payroll!
I did his first day. His posts made me eat crow and I was proud to do it. I'm very glad Jeff is here.
Posted by phidipides at September 7, 2007 05:44 PMThanks, pdip, that means a lot, this is a really cool site, I've thought that for years.
Now, if you'll excuse me, something just came over my "mojo wire" as Dr. Thompson used to say. I have another interesting Hillary statement to post, this one on Iraq.
